Default Oh the frustration!! I am new here.....

I was "unofficially" diagnosed in March 2007- I say unofficially because while it was hinted the doctor never came out and said it. Until yesterday that is....
After the birth of my son in 2004 I started the depo shot- within 3 months my period had disappeard- and have now been off of depo for 2 years and still no period! I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, depression, insulin resistant, and hirsutism...Oh, let's not forget the weight gain. Reading all of the posts I am just amazed at the number of women with this.
I have had a real hard time loosing the weight.....any advice? I would like to start with a small goal...10 lbs over the next three months.
I am on toprol xl, effexor, norvasc, a diuretic and am taking provera to try to get my cycles going again. I am not ttc and at this point cannot take a bcp until my bp is under control....

Ugh! This is so frustrating. Thank you for having this site- it helps to know that I am not alone in this.....

Welcome! I agree that this site has been fab since I was diagnosed a few months ago, it's great to know that we're not the only ones out there! :-)

I'd agree with the small goal on weightloss. It makes it much easier to achieve it. I'm working on 14 pounds every 4 months, which makes it seem alot easier to do than 42 pounds in a year!
I'm not a gym person (wayyyy too self conscious!!), my cleavage is not exactly suitable for running/jogging since I'd end up with two black eyes, but I've found that cycling has worked wonders! I gave up riding the bus and I cycle to uni and back 5 days a week, about 50km in total, so using it as transport makes it seem like my body doesn't realise I'm trying to exercise.

Hockeypock,
Welcome!
I think you'd do well on Metformin.

It will help you lose weight if you have a low GI diet and exercise...

I have just started on it and LOVE the results so far. I have lost 10IBS....

I think its very important that most women with PCOS are on met as most are IR and even if borderline or nearly IR it has great results reducing free testosterone, trigger cycles and making women feel much better.

Reducing weight reduces IR and free T levels and also makes one feel better and more in control.

Does anyone have a link to a good site to go on for recommended foods while taking Met?
