About a year ago I was dx'd with PCOS and insulin resistance by a male RE whom I had never gone to before. I had heard good things about him, and I really needed to get this thing under control, so I went. He kinda pissed me off from the beginning, since he was the type of doctor that didn't like his patients to be educated and suggesting things to him, if you know what I mean. I was doing ok until my internal exam... he made a HUGE deal about the size of my clitoris. As if I'm not paranoid about it enough. He then proceeded to call his nurse in (who is his WIFE!) so SHE could see my apparently freakish clit as well. He then proceeded to comment that I should be happy it's so big and that "it must make things nicer for me and my husband". I was beyond humiliated... anyway, I got my prescriptions from him for Met and Spiro, and went on my way. I did really well taking them at first, but then gradually stopped since they made me feel so crappy.
Now, I still have 2 refills left on my meds, and I'm terrified to go back to him to get more. Actually, I'm too embarassed to let ANY doctor see my crotch now, even though my husband swears that it's fine. I am so paranoid... but I need to get another prescription! I guess one of my questions is, can a PCP just write a new script for an existing condition if he were to get my charts?? Also, was that doctor not inappropriate in his behavior??
Another thing is, the Glucophage makes me RAVENOUSLY hungry, does anyone else have that problem? And then when I do eat, I feel sick. I can't stick to any diet, and I feel like I'm my own worst enemy. My husband and I have been talking about having another baby, but I'm so scared, as I have an Incompetent Cervix and don't know if I can go through the cerclage, possible loss, and bedrest again, especially with my 2 1/2 year old running around. My hair is falling out still, and the whole thing just gets me down.
Sorry this is so long... thanks for reading if you've gotten this far. I love this board, and I'm going to make an effort to post more, especially since now I'm serious about controlling this disease. TIA...
I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience with your Dr. And, no, I don't think his behavior was appropriate. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he was trying to be funny or something (with the comment about you & your DH), but he soooo wasn't.
My only doctor is my PCP (a family doc.) He prescribes my meds, follows me for PCOS, and all other ob/gyn and health issues. I haven't had any infertility issues, though, so you might still need another doc for that. Hope you find another doctor who will treat you better.

You know what? Take a gander at the book _Femalia_ by Joani Blank. It's a photo collection of female genitalia in a non-sexual way. Just... there. And it may help you see that yours is as normal as everyone elses and each one is unique in it's own way. Different colors, shapes, sizes, etc.
As for your doctor -- he's got bad manners. Jerk.
But don't let HIS problem keep your from YOUR prescription. Call the office and ask them to call in a refill to your pharmacy and give them the pharmacy number.
Then you can still have it while you shop for a better mannered care provider.
Amanda, Im sorry he made you feel ashamed! He is an Ass and I would find a new doctor. Women come in all different shapes and sizes, but also An enlarged clitoris can be caused by elevated testosterone which alot of women with PCOS have!!! So he is DOUBLELY ignorant! I know there are alot of gals from FLA on this board with good docs, maybe you can post for refferals. Good luck (sorry about the spelling! )

First of all, there is no such thing as the right size Love Bean. Yours is perfectly delightful and Dr. Moron really behaved poorly. You should consider reporting him, although it could be embarassing.
Don't go back to such an idiot. My GP and OB/GYN have both given me scrips for Met as well as other drugs, so Dr. Moron is not your only option. I'm sorry you had this nightmare experience.
I am so sorry that happened to you...and yes, his behavior was COMPLETELY inappropriate...just the things that he said were not appropriate at all, but then to go and get someone else to come and look at you who is not a DR (or even if it were another doctor) that is freaking OUTRAGEOUS!! I would report his stupid a$$ for sure!! Yes, that might be embarrassing, but if he does that to someone, he does not deserve to be practicing. And if he is so fascinated w/it...maybe he should be working in the porn industry. GRRR WHAT AN A$$ CLOWN!!! I'd like to know what doc that was!
I'm sorry I can't answer your met question, I haven't taken mine in a while, and don't remember it making me more hungry. I do know that if I took it and didn't eat w/in half an hour after taking it I would get sick though.

Oh yeah, and yes, a new PCP could prescribe your meds to you, he doesn't have to be the one that dx'd you. I told my new doc (PCP) what things I was on from my old doc and why, and when I needed new one's he wrote the rx's for them.

Sorry had to say it! Most of the pics I see of them, I think my clit is small compared to and wonder if there's something wrong with it myself! So, feel blessed you are "well endowed". We are all fine, no matter how big or small, it's just who we are and how we are made and you should be proud! And if dh ain't complaining (i'm sure he likes it!) then noone should be.
