I have persistent, moderate acne. My skin is very oily in the T-zone, usually normal elsewhere. But lately, I have developed dryness and flaking around my mouth. I haven't changed my skincare routine at all. Normally if my skin gets dry, I skip a night or two of Retin-A, but this time it's not working. So now I have the added headache of flaky skin!
I'm pretty much willing to try anything, although the thought of "washing" my face with oil seems counter-intuitive to say the least!

My Mood: Points: 2,194.42 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,194.42 | love it . i use a mix of castor, grapeseed and vitamin e oil on my skin. if it's congested i'll add a drop or two of tea tree oil and leave the oil to sit longer. i know that cleaning with oil sounds totally counterintuitive - we're supposed to be getting rid of all that nasty oil, after all, not adding more - but i swear it works. prior to going on diane i had a horrible oil slick of a face, seriously it was so revolting, and i found that the more i scrubbed and exfoliated and used masks and topical treatment the more oil my skin produced and the more inflamed my skin became. the ocm, while not drastically reducing the oiliness, reduced the inflamation and blackheads were not appearing as frequently.
the best part was when my skin totally dried up on diane and i added in an olive oil and brown sugar scrub. omg, finally! the dryness is gone, the oiliness is nonexistent and my skin is finally starting to look amazing. http://community.livejournal.com/naturalskin/ - the ocm comes up a lot, and there's loads of info there about various oils, ratios of each to use and other useful stuff.
good luck |

My Mood: Points: 32,142.93 Bank: 161,403.17 Total Points: 193,546.10 | Have you ever tried DHC's olive oil skincare? I tried samples, and I thought nooo way would an oil-based cleanser and moisturizer work for my skin, but I was very, very pleasantly surprised.
I've tried the starter kit: http://www.dhccare.com/DHC/ProductDe...&ProductID=66B
I love the deep cleansing oil and the Olive Virgin Oil moisturizer. It made my skin look terrific, and did slightly improve. I don't have severe acne, though. I've got occassional blemishes on my chin/mouth area, and I've got the dark red blotches that stick around.
Hope this helps! I haven't ordered DHC for a while, and I should do that. Love their products! Here's a link for a catalog and samples: https://www.dhccare.com/DHC/catalogrequest.aspx
Let me know if you try it and like it!
