I've got a bit of problem -- whenever I wear eye shadow (doesn't matter what brand or what kind -- I just $50 Bobbi Brown eye shadow) it creases within an hour!!! I'm getting married in a month and I need to not crease!!! Help!!! thanks!

Are you using foundation on your eylids as well? This will give you a smoother base for your eye make up and pre-fill in those crease areas. I like a cream eye shadow that I set with a little transluescent powder.

However, I rarely wear make up on a day to day basis, maybe someone else will have some suggestions for you as well.

I love F.Y eye by Benefit, it's a an eye shadow base. My shadow stays on the whole day.

You should definitely use it for your wedding day.

I've tried it all for this problem. The only thing I've found that works for me is the long wearing lipsticks. The colors aren't the greatest, but they are getting better. I've found a pale purple that I like from Cover Girl. I've also gotten a brown-ish shade, too. Sometimes they can be kind of sticky, but they stay! Hope this helps.

It is sad to say that I rarely wear makeup anymore because the oil on my eyelids is so bad that it just isn't worth it. On top of the creasing and running, I hate the greasy feeling and I am always wiping my face and eyes.

When I do get dolled up, I put on the oil-free foundation and lots of powder over that and then the eye shadow. You will have make sure you have access to your make up bag for touch ups during the reception. If need be, have some kind of wet wipe so you can remove the eyeshadow without messing up your mascara and liner, then reapply your shadow.

Best wishes for your wedding. It is a special time

I would suggest the following (I'm a frmr make up artist, and oily lid girl...btw)

1) Revlon Colorstay foundation- I use this as my foudation, but if you don't want to, get a bottle of it, and dab a bit on, enough to cover the whole lid and brow bone, let dry.

2) Next, dust your regular face powder over the lid as well, or use some type of powder that has some staying power to it

3) use a shimmery eye shadow, something that's a bit sheer, where you can layer the color to the depth that you want. You really shouldn't bother with only putting shadow on your lid only, this is why it creases...start with a light base (me, I'm nat. blonde w/brown eyes, pale complected) so I use Bobbi Brown shimmer eye shadow in Snow over the entire eye, from lid to brow (don't use alot, you'll look like a drag queen!), then I typically use Bobbi Brown eye shimmer in Stone (a brownie / bronzey color) and work it into the crease. You need a crease brush!! open your eye a little way, insert brush from inner to outer corner and try to create an "L" shape, you're not filling in the whole eye, go from inner to outer corner, then about half way over your actual lid. Try using a revlon colorstay pencil for your eyeliner (I swear by this!!) and a water proof mascara.

If you're still getting some creasing, do all the above steps, but BEGIN with a dab of benzoyl peroxide cream or some other type of oil absorbing cream meant for acne. a little dab over the lid shoudl beall you need, and no... don't worry about "the delicate eye area" and premature wrinkling...as long as you don't put it IN your eye, and keep it away from the outer corners (crow's feet area) you'll be fine. I've done this for years...and I'm doing just fine.

Default wow!

wow! those are some great suggestions!!! I am now only using Bobbi Brown eye shadows -- I went for a makeover at the mall and fell in love with them. I have found that L'Oreal DeCrease works pretty well as a base before my eye shadow (it gives me about 6 hours worth). But I'm definitely going to use your suggestion and see how long I can last....thanks!!!

Most shadow primers work well. Mary Kay makes one that I wore back when I had time to put makeup on.
