Default Oily face & oily HAIR?

I have a very oily and acne prone face, not a surprise there. But ever since I was about 13, my hair is super oily too. I will wash my hair, and literally within 5 hours my scalp and the first 3 inches of hair is in terrible shape. I've tried so many different products, but I was just wondering if you deal with this too...and what do you do about it?

My skin isn't too oily, I actually get alot of dry patches that I have to try moisturize and scrub off in the winter...

But about my hair, definitely oily hair. I don't have a solution to it, I just have to keep showering and restyling everyday or leave it in a ponytail. I too would like some tips though other ladies have found

I found that Spiro really helped my oily face and hair..I still wash my hair everyday as I have really fine and thinning hair, but the spiro stopped the really oilliness it would get if I didnt wash it for a day....( you cant take spiro when you are TTC, so if you go on it, you will need to stop..)

I haven't found a solution but I have the same problem. I thought maybe that was contributing to my back acne but I cut it shorter and I still have the back acne. Let me know if you find anything that works!

Have you tried changing the products you use? Definitely no conditioner. I love Pert Plus Cooling. It keeps my hair relatively oil free for at least 24 hours.

I have massive oily hair and I shampoo every day. Here's what I learned from hairstylist advice. Massage scalp well. Thats all there is to it..Notice how your hair is not too oily after you go to a salon and get a wash/cut and you can go on for a couple of days without washing it? I massage my scalp about 3 minutes in the shower and I don't use shampoo for oily hair because such shampoos actually tells your scalp to release more oil since it sucking up the oil. I just use head and shoulders alternate it with fructis. And for conditioning, only the ends not the roots.

Oily face...use toner. I buy my toner at an asian market, notice how asians have nice complexion..hahaha...It helps but you still would have oily face just not as bad. I only use facial scrub for blemish skin by St. Ives and now comes with face wash too. For make-up, I use oil free products. Wash my face twice a day and use toner. And recently bought this product from HSN..Glycolic 3 mask by serious skin care. WOW !! Helps with pores too.

Default What worked for me

I found that head and shoulder's worked really for my oily hair and helped to prevent breakouts along my hair line. For my face, I use Avon white tea mask that seems to help.

I know this sounds wierd, but highlighting or dying my hair really, really helps with the oil. I don't know why. It also helps give me some volume. No conditioner. If you have tangles, use a children's detangler spray.

I have extremely oily hair, as well. The most noticable improvement is when i dye my hair because it is so drying. However, I only get it done about three times a year so in between I use T Gel almost everynight, mix in head and shoulders periodically, massage scalp, and leave it in for at least three minutes. (putting shampoo on then washing it off doesnt do much for oily hair, it has to really penetrate through the oil first) My hair is oily within hours so in the morning i use baby powder (there are probably some powder hair products as well, but i just use good old baby powder). and finally, using aloe vera helps tone down the oil, but also makes your hair thicker and more shiny. I used to use it all the time, but you have to use 100% aloe vera gel (not the sunburn stuff) and its hard to find here and its a little sticky in the shower, but it does work!! i also never use conditioner and i only wash the ends of my hair every two or three times because i have to wash it so much that the rest of my hair gets so dry. hope something helps

I do 2 things. 1) Die my roots lighter a few shades(because I have black hair and it shows oil soooo fast plus dying dries it out a bit) and 2)I have hair powder so when I put it on it soaks up the oil and my hair looks and smells fresh. Theres also those oil sheets and even powder for your face can help soak up oil in your hair.

I shampoo every morning. Right now I'm not having major issues (seems to be hormonal for me), but when I do I use Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Shampoo. It seemst to help. Also, style your hair and then keep your hands to yourself. The more you play with your hair during the day, the oilier it seems to get.

I have the same problem and I tried a lot of shampoos. The best one I feel is Aveda- scalp benefits. This one is really great. Earlier I had to wash my hair every day...now I can go for 2 days if I want. Its just great. Eeven Kielhs protein shampoo works wonders for me.

Sounds like all the advice given to you is good.....its what i would suggest. I have fine thin hair and it looks dirty at then end of the day and oily.

No conditioner, and put some highlights in your hair for summer.

As for your face, what cleanser are you using? I use Mary Kay for oily skin and my moisturizer is for oily skin. There are alot of products for oily skin out there..... just dont buy the cheap stuff!!!

Ive had this problem for years and my stylist tells me to use

Nexus....Exoil it is sometimes hard to find but then she says to find products with tea tree oil. They all work awsome. Best of luck. Lesia
