Default Oily scalp and hair loss

My hair are falling at a very fast pace. The hair fall is reduced on the day I wash hair. Then a few hours later, hair start to fall a lot. My scalp gets extremely oily a few hours later. I have read that oily scalp can be due to increased androgens. Is there anything that can help with oily scalp and hair loss?

Other than trying methods to get your androgens down, (bcps, antiandrogens, saw palmetto) you might want to try a shampoo like Nizoral.

It comes in 1 and 2 percent. If you're in the US, only the one percent is over the counter.

The active ingredient in it, supposedly has an antiandrogenic effect.

So if you use it, scrub it into your scalp, then leave it in while you take your shower, shave etc. so it has a chance to sink in, then rinse it out.

I actually have pretty dry hair, so I don't really know what else to suggest. Maybe someone else has some ideas?

Default I agree

Thanks for your reply. I think my symptoms resemble with seborrhic dermatitis. I will see a dermatologist soon. I think nozoral will be the best shampoo for dermatitis and for androgenic baldness. I hope it works for both.

Have you tried this shampoo for PCOS hair loss? Does it work?

Thanks,

Hi there -

I use the 1 percent and have for a while.

I'm doing so many different things that I don't know for sure if it's helping or not.

I've read that others have felt it's really made a difference with their hair loss.

For me I don't think it's done anything dramatic, but I keep using it in hopes that maybe it's helping and I just don't see it.

I also have a very oily scalp and consistent hair loss. Nioxin seems to be helping. When I use a different shampoo, by midday my scalp is really oily. But with Nioxin, I'm good all day.
