My Mood: Points: 2,172.89 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,172.89 | Oily skin ... aarrrgh!!! This is one of the symptoms of PCOS that drives me nuts!!
At my job, makeup isn't compulsory. However, it does add to that professional look that we aim for in that environment. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those lucky gals who can apply her makeup before leaving for work. By the time I get there .... can you say oil-slick city? The hot weather and resulting sweat doesn't help either.
Generally I apply my makeup when I arrive at my job (I'm there quite early). I have to use oil-absorbent everything, including base cream, powder foundation, and translucent powder. It looks great for a while. After about an hour and a half there's that shine again. *sigh* I tried using those oil-absorbent sheets to mop up the excess .... they work great, but it takes about 3 sheets to do my entire face! LOL In the next half hour I'm shining again. I end up having to wash off everything and start over from scratch every three hours or so to maintain some look of normalcy.
The only time I ever got any relief from this perpetual problem was when I started taking BCP. I actually got to experience what it's like to have normal skin for once. My relief ended when I stopped the BCP due to TTC, but I guess it was good while it lasted. Oh well, end of rant.

But my face is soo oily, and when I wax my face because of the massive amount of hair on it,that makes it worse. I've tried nutragenia (sp), proactiv and combo of other products nothing seems to help. What am I missing???

My Mood: Points: 11,974.30 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 11,974.30 | I am still trying to figure out how to "STOP THE OIL"!!! I use oil-controlling/absorbing everything too. Still can use me as a reflector. I know the experts say that oily skin is great for keeping away wrinkles longer, but dang, I can't keep makeup on for any length of time. And I happen to be someone who needs it for acne and PIH. Right now I use Smashbox Antishine and Dermadoctor Tease Zone to control oil. Along with MAC blot powder and a rice powder. And of course I use oil controlling foundation too. You would think that would be enough. But NOPE! Maybe someone else here on the boards has had luck controlling the oil. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

For me, birth control pills was the only thing that practically "cured" by oily skin ... albeit temporarily.

As was said before, oily skin really is a hormonal thing. I'm not so sure how much a dermatologist can actually do to stem the problem.

I think I might be giving it a try just to see how it works out.

Points: 2,246.92 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,246.92 | My skin goes back and forth from oily to dry. I must have spent every Sun in Sephora looking for oily skin products, matte primers that cost a fortune. Nothing really worked for me, but I did use a mask from dhc that absorbed tons of oil on my face nightly, and I felt it made some kind of difference.
Good luck! |
