I have awful oily skin that has appeared in maybe the last 6 months or so, and along with it, HORRIBLE breakouts! I don't have really huge pimples, just a TON of tiny ones, mostly on my forehead, some on my chin, & a few have been popping up on my cheeks now. Is there anyone out there who can tell me a way to reduce oil production on my face, or an acne treatment system for oily skin that actually works? I'm not a teenager, btw, so I would need people in or around their mid-20's to answer this for me as teen & adult skin is different. Thanks!
I am turning 22 in the next few months and my skin has been the same exact way... The only thing I have found is theres a sensitive(so it doesnt over strip my skin) cleanser made by Ance free(you can get it at walmart€ for like 4 or 5 dollars) and then when I go to bed at night use clearasil... I know it's not a skin care regimen or anything special but it is the ONLY thing that has worked on my face... Hope this helps...

My skin doesn't seem to respond to the Acne Free sensitive stuff. I'd been using it for a while & I think it actually made my skin worse . Thanks though!
Are you able to see a dermatologist or able to try prescription stuff? I am 24 and have been battling acne since I was 14. My new regime that works well is: birth control (ortho-tri cyclen lo), differin (rx acne cream), Purpose soap, and Purpose dual treatment spf 15 lotion (both recommended by my derm for adult sensitive skin and available at walmart, kmart, etc).

I was thinking about going to a derm, but I just wanted some input on some OTC stuff first. I was researching & found Benzamycin, and thought that might work for me. But I've heard a lot about Differin too...I might have to ask about that.
Make sure you research the medicines your Derm put you on because alot even differin can cause birth defect and also infertility due to the high amounts of chemicals they have in them...

Yes, I should have noted that you shouldn't use any retinoids (retin-a, tazorac, differin, etc.) when you are pregnant or TTC. They can cause birth defects.
FDA pregnancy category C. This medication may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether Differin passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use Differin without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
However the derm has a few other options that will not harm your baby that are category A and B. One example is Clindamycin topical (I used to use it)...Teratogenic effects—Pregnancy Category B Reproduction studies have been performed in rats and mice using subcutaneous and oral doses of clindamycin ranging from 100 to 600 mg/kg/day and have revealed no evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus due to clindamycin.

i've been battling acne since 15 and am 27 now. while on bcp my face was great! still oily and some breakouts but overall very very nice. especially last year before i got off on it and ttc. i sometimes look at old pix from last year and cry.
and i've tried just about everything and anything. but with ttc you're just very limited. but my aesthetician did introduce me to a product called obagi clenziderm for oily skin. it's like proactive but medically graded. i can't say that my breakouts are completely gone, but from what it was a GREAT improvement. i do have to warn that it does dry out your skin really bad to the point you want to quit but if you get past the two week mark your skin starts to get a clearer complexion and those pesky little white heads disappear so fast. and any new breakouts that come out they go away in like 2 days.
it is expensive but i've found them cheaper on amazon or ebay. just remember to follow the directions very closely. and a little goes a long way. i'm still on my first set and its been 3 months already.
as for the oiliness, well i have seen it go down some. but i'm not sure if it's the summer heat right now with the humidity or the food i've been eating lately but it does seem a little bit oilier than when i first started. HTH!

Since my husband and I decided that we don't want to have kids, I'm currently on Ortho Tricyclen, which has seemed to be the culprit in the onset of the worst of my acne. It may just be my body adjusting to the hormones as well, we shall see. I have been researching & ordered the Murad acne complex last night to give it a try, as many others have seemed to like it. Thanks for all your advice, everyone!

I ordered the Murad and it seems to be working well thus far. I still get some spots, but they're not nearly as bad or numerous as they were, & my skin is also more even & less oily.
