Question Oily Waxy Inside of Ears

The inside of my ears are usually oily and have alot of wet wax. Sometimes I think it might be my excess fats secreting through my ears (I am overweight).

I have to scrap my ears everyday - quite addictive. Otherwise they itch very badly due to the wetness.

Anyone else have this problem? I did a search but didn't find anything.

From memory, its genetic as whether or not you usually have dry or wet wax. Is the wet wax out of the ordinary? Or have you had it most of your life?

I know swimmers will use isopropyl alcohol before swimming, perhaps you could try the same before showering? Obviously check with your doctor first incase you have an infection.

I have the same problem. It just started like a year ago. Have to use a swab everyday sometimes more than once a day. Before I could go weeks without using one.

Both me and my mom have the same problem. It becomesw worse when I go to the beach or windy places.
It is just sebum which is produced by the outer ears and usually normal. You need not worry unless it is really foul smelling and or accompanied by pain and discharge.

How do you manage the itch? I use a wooden ear scraper to gently scrap out the excess wax. It helps for a while but I realise that it can get quite "addictive". I have to carry one around me all the time.

I have the same problem...and find myself absent mindedly rubbing my ears to ease the itch. I haven't found anything that makes it go away. :-(
