Default Ok So does anyone know why...

When I went to the Dermatologist and he put me on Minocycline 100mg twice a day with Benzaclin topical in the morning and Tazorac cream at night...... Why I broke out more and more and more???

I understand that my adult acne is PCOS related.. but it seemed the meds to treat it were making it worse and worse and WORSE.... So I stopped taking the meds and putting the creams on and NOW my skin is way better......

Anyone understand why?? My Dermatologist sent me to the Endocrinologist because I have the facial hair too.... and then I found out I had pcos....... Any input would be great....

Thanks,

Kathryn

I had the same problem but with other antibiotic creams. My skin is sensitive and so it irritated it and didn't clear it up. I like to use benzoil peroxide products since they help clear my skin like nothing else. I am currently trying proactive and love it! The best part is it clears skin great but doesn't dry it out like OXY10. I can use it on my chest, back and face. My skin feels great.

Have you tried aldactone for the hair and acne? It has helped me in the past.

Some have had great luck with it. I know my sister loves it. I had trouble with it though. It is very high in progestin strength compared with some of the other bc pills I had taken in the past. It made me tired, cranky, moody and my skin broke out. I had better luck with desogen and demulin clearing things up. The yasmin has about 25 mg of aldactone in it. The usual starting dose is 100 per day so it may help some along with the usual help from bc pills in general for raising SHBG level.

Does your sister also have pcos, I'm worried that with a predisposition to acne I might start to have more problems on Yasmin than I did on Ovcon?

Yes she does have pcos but she doesn't have skin problems and minimal hair issues. I on the other hand have both. She likes the Yasmin better than ovcon, what she was previosly on. It was too high in estrogen for her.

I didn't care for the Yasmin. It did seem to worsen my acne as did Mircette. The desogen and demulin were great for hair and acne. I have also taken ortho cyclen with aldactone. All these I would recommend if you decide to switch off Yasmin later. You may do well with it though. GIve it a few months trial.
