Angry Ok, so now I'm mad!

I'm a Newbie, and was diagnosed in June. The more I research this, the more I learn that I should have been diagnosed a long time ago!

I have gone to dr. to dr. for years, and belittle because "You're a college student, you need to eath health". What kind of college students eats steamed chicken and rice most nights? Anyway, now I've learned that dandruff, acne, and light periods are also a side effect. I have gone to dr's for weight gain, acne, dandruff, periods, inability to lose weight, dry skin on my elbows, skin tags, and NOTHING!

It's just so frustrating to know that I should have been diagnosed more than 5 years ago when I complained about all these things to begin with.

Thanks for letting me vent!

I can definately sympathise with you as i knew from the age of 19 that i had some kind of problem but my drs kepts saying i was imagining things. I tried for years until i was 25 and i went again to the drs and told them that i knew something was wrong. Take it this way three weeks before my wedding i find out that i have PCOS!! That was two years ago now, i feel very lucky that my husband has stood by me.

It is good to vent about these kind of things, i do know and understand how you feel

Take care xx

(((HUGS)))) and welcome
I know the feeling. I was finally diagnosed when I was 37, I showed so many signs starting when I was a teen, I went to so many DRs (for over 22 years) trying to find the answer for my symptoms that clearly spelled out PCOS! All those years I was thinking I was a medical mystery.
Sorry you have it, but glad you found Soul Cysters!

I know how you feel. When I started realizing what all the symptoms are, I could have been diagnosed in college. Alas, I wasn't and atleast we know now, right?

I hope you feel better.

I think we've all had to go through this...my dr thought I was a hypochondriac, coming in with a long list of issues. thing is, I've learned that dr's have to suspect PCOS in order to dx it, and so many dr's don't know what it is. I had to switch insurance and had to get a new dr...she used to be an ob/gyn (is now a family dr), so I thought, great, she'll be perfect for me, she'll know just how to deal with this...nope, she never even heard of PCOS!

it's good and bad that we finally get a dx...good in that we FINALLY have a name to what is going on and that we're not alone...bad in that there is no "quick fix" or cure for it. I remember reading about PCOS the first time, and my heart sunk with reading each symptom and realizing that I had them all.

it's okay to be mad...the important thing is now that you know what you're dealing with, you can take action to help yourself feel better. PCOS never goes away, but you can control the symptoms and how they control your life. ((HUGS))

Hi,
Welcome to the site.
Know exactly where u are coming from. I went to my gp with pcos symptoms age 17 was diagnosed with endometriosis at 21 but not diagnosed "officially" with pcos until I went for IVF age 29. My gp put me on dianette age 17 for hair but hasn't a clue about pcos, just lucky in a way I had fertility probs as at least I am on metformin now for pcos.
I had to have fertility treatment but it was not just because of pcos so please do not assume you will have fertility probs. As I mentioned I also have endometriosis plus my hubby had some issues also.
We'll all all get there in the end someone needs to find a cure!!!!
Anyway! Good luck with everything and welcome again x

I completely understand...I was not diagnosed until this year at 35. For years I have struggled with my weight, my hair falling out, and have had 3 miscarriages, etc., and yet doctors kept brushing off my concerns. I was being dramatic, I was lazy, and all my miscarriages were not related (even though my mom also had three and was diagnosed with low progestrone). It can be very frustrating! I'm glad you got your diagnosis, and that you found this place. Talking to other ladies in the same boat has been helpful to me.
