I know many PCOSers (including me!) rely on bcp to control certain symptoms. However, at the moment, I have two kids and I don't want any more. Any feedback on how effective bc is for its actual purpose? (I am paranoid as I conceived my oldest while on NuvaRing, and also because despite PCOS I am something of a fertile myrtle and conceived my son on the second cycle trying.)

It has been affective for me. I have not been trying to get PG either. I just had gastric bypass. I have been taking BCP's since June 2007. I have not go pregnant. But I was over 300lbs at the time. Good Luck.

I'm wondering the same thing. I am only 21 and ABSOLUTELY do not want to get pregnant right now, but would LOVE to in the future! I told this to my doctor and he said to just be careful, take my BCPs regularly and on time, and to try to use other methods when possible (condoms, etc). I am nervous though because people normally take metformin to increase their fertility and i am not trying to do that at the moment, I just want to get myself in line to be able to have children when I choose to.
I'm on the pill (have been for many years) and I have yet to get pregnant. So as long as you take it at about the same time everyday, I think you'll be ok.

I am on Yasmin to control as contraception and as treatment for PCOS and possibly endo related problems. I really like it. I also don't want to get pregnant just yet. It wouldn't be the end of the world (I am nearly 23 and in a very stable relationship), but I'd like to be more financially able to provide for a babba! I have a strange feeling (maybe paranoia..lol) that I will conceive in a year or so despite being on the pill. Maybe it's secretly what I want! Ha! xx
