Default okay, so the vitamin/supplement list..

i think this might be the right place, but please feel free to move it if it isn't

i was hoping for a bit of input on what i am now taking, started the regime yesterday and while i have the basics down i'm still a little overwhelmed

spearmint tea

daytime mouthful
-basic multivitamin
-vit. c
-saw palmetto gelcap
-fish/flaxseed/borage oil gelcap
-juice for life Power veggie formula
-B complex (b1, 2, 3, 6, 12, folic acid, biotin, pantothenic acid, liver powder (wth?) & brewers yeast)
-guggulbolic
-acidophilius pearl

evening mouthful
-fish/flaxseed/borage oil again
-guggulbolic again
-power veggie again
-saw palmetto again
-calcium + vit d
-vit E/selenium

i'd like to add grape seed extract and evening primrose oil to these, but i also realize i already have some antioxidants going and grape seed extract might be overkill. but i've done alot of abuse to my body over the years, i'd like to feel better

does this sound good? anything i could add? anything i should take away?

i haven't gotten hormone testing yet, so these are more buffers? i guess? til then, and i know more about what i need specifically

Hey there!
Are you planning to get some hormone testing done in the near future? If so I might be wise to lay off any supplements that might directly affect hormonal levels.

I'm no expert on supplements so I think I will let someone else give an opinion especially on herbs and some of the more esoteric things. It does seem like you have most of your basics covered - although I don't see extra magnesium - it might be helpful for insulin resistance - and same with chromium and perhaps extra zinc (although that may be covered in your multivitamin).

I this is one of the "sticky's" for this forum but you might not have found it yet - Mary's PCOS Treatment FAQ -- http://members.aol.com/marykateroget/ - I think it is very well done and might be a good source of ideas and information.

I don't know of guggulbolic! would you mind saying more about it? Also juice for life I think I have heard of it but I don't know much about it.

Me again. . . Also I think it would be helpful to future posters to know a little more about your situation.

What do you hope to achieve - or what areas do you most want to try to improve your health?

Also what is a reasonable supplement budget for you like for a months worth? And how many times a day are you willing to take a "handful"?

basic overview of guggulsterones-

from nutriline .org:
Guggulsterones are a mixture of several compounds isolated from the plant Commiphora Mukul (also called Gum Guggul). Carefully planned scientific studies show that guggulsterones reduce bodyweight, mostly due to their stimulating effect on the thyroid gland, which controls your metabolic rate.

and the power veggies thing-

Proprietary probiotic blend containing: L.Acidophilus, streptococcus thermophilus, bifidus, bulgaricus, lactobacillus spore.

FOS (fructo-oligosaccharides)

Proprietary enzyme blend containing: amylase, cellulase, protease, lactase, lipase, maltase, bromelain, sucrase, papain.

what i hope to achieve.. i'm not looking at the future, right now i'm focusing on weight loss and hair reduction as well as regulated periods. one day i do hope to have children, but i'm focusing on the now, so to speak. if i look too far ahead at possible complications, problems, i lose hope

i don't have a whole lot of extra money right now, so the budget is tea and vitamins. hyponidd is my goal to get everything straightened out and the price is reasonable-ish

as for the pills.. they are alot to look at, no doubt. but twice a day has been okay so far, i could see me going up to 3 times a day but i'm bad with med scheduling, i'm always off by 1-5 hours
