Question Old Blood - TMI

Okay, for all you TMI post readers....I know I posted about getting old blood with my last AF, but I am getting a little concerned because of the amount of old blood that I get. I always get it for the first few days and actually the final days as well.
Now I thought I was getting AF this month, too. All I had for about 5 days was the old blood showing up. It isn't heavy and isn't like normal AF, not even a quarter of a pad a day, sometimes less.

My concern is where is all this old blood coming from? I mean, I can understand if I haven't had AF for a while, but after AF, I would expect it to go away.

I have been having some pain on my left side - I am assuming it is my ovary, but I don't know where there are :o Could this be related?

I just started taking Spiro last week, maybe that is why?

Any ideas?

Also, can I just say how happy I am to be able to ask these questions and not be worried about people getting all grossed out? You girls are the best

I am anxious to hear a reply from this one. I had one day of "bleeding" this time and 3 days of "old blood". I had a d&c last month so I don't know if that is the reason. I've never had a period like this before. I have tried to pass it off as hormonal changes due to a different bcp that i started 2 months ago. It's just weird.

Bump - I've had several days of old blood spotting twice now and no proper AF, also accompanied by apparent ovary pains immediately prior to discovering each spotting episode. Can anyone help?

I always thought old blood was normal. Ever since I've had my period, I had it at the beginning and at the ends of my periods. Although right now I'm AF'ing on my own, without the pill, and I seem to get some of that, thinking I'm about done, and new batch of red comes along--nothing heavy. I'm just assuming it's hormones and won't let it bother me unless it doesn't go away.

leachamb - Some of the acronyms can be found on a sticky at the top of the newbies section - Updated!!! Abbreviations For Newbies:)

AF = Aunt Flo - your period

Spiro is a medicine called Spironolactone, but I can never spell it and most people usually refer to it as spiro.

Old blood is just that, old blood with AF. It is normally a brown color and not very heavy.

HTH

Caelda - it's nice to know that someone else gets it too. I haven't always gotten it though. It has become more frequent probably in the last couple of years. I always thought it was because of the BCP I was on.

TickledPink - I have seen some other posts of yours sharing that unfortunte side effect. I am still crossing my fingers - everything seems ok so far!

carolinej and Missy - thanks for the replies. Hopefully some others will have experienced this as well. I just hate the idea of calling my doctor and talking about this over the phone.

Default I've also had old blood

I've also had the whole old blood thing before my "as normal as it can get" cycle but never after it though. Sometimes that's all I have....AF took a vacation or something. It's been like that off and on since I was 21. When I got off BCP. For 4 months, I didn't have any period and I was having what I thought to be symptoms of pregnancy. But that wasn't the case...just my body getting over not having the pills in my system. Ho-hum. What a let-down that was. But after all that, I am actually glad that I didn't have a baby with my fiancee *at the time*....cuz he turned out to be a jerk and I have found my true soul-mate and I love him with all my heart.
