I'm in a state of shock, but in a good way. I got a call from my surgeon's PA yesterday asking if i would be available for lap band surgery on 15th November!!!!
The very earliest i was told it would be was end of March next year. I almost said no as my mum arrives over from Ireland the same day and I don't want her to know about the surgery, am going to have to pretend it's something else and i really hate telling lies
My head is all over the place am excited, worried and loads of other stuff i can't even start to describe
Went into hospital 2pm Wednesday, didn't see anybody until 8.30pm, so was really bored. At 8.20 am Thursday was told i was first in theatre so had to rush round and get showered, get my sexy gown and surgical stockings on. Surgeon came to see me and get my consent, then dietitian to discuss what i can eat for the next few weeks.
For 10 days before the op i was only allowed to eat 2 yogurts and 4 fruit a day with unlimited sugar free jelly. My scales at home didn't seem to be moving but when weighed in the hospital i'd lost 13.5lbs. I thought i was going to be on liquids for two weeks but am allowed mushie food for two weeks then it's trial and error on solids after that as everybody is different.
Anyway operation was about 9am, was back on ward at one and up and walking about 5. I have 5 holes where they went in and my port is between my boobs where your bra band sits and feels like i have been stabbed in the chest, but i've not taken any painkillers.
Got home on Friday lunchtime, surgeon said everything went very well and was pleased with my recovery. Managed to go to the metro centre shopping yesterday
Have managed a few spoonfuls of porridge, soup and mushed up boiled egg since coming home. Am excited about my new start.
Thanks for all your good wishes, it really means a lot, and if you have got this far well done
