i am so in shock i have just heard on radio one that steve irwin the crocodile hunter has died. he was filming a new underwater documentry when he was struck by a stingray in the heart. it is so sad my thoughts are with his family. RIP steve.

My Dh woke me up before he went to work this morning to tell me, I can't believe it, im in shock. I loved him and his programmes. I feel so sorry for his wife and kids, its just so sad.

I was snoozing with the radio on and heard the news this morning. I feel so upset because I really liked his programmes and his vivacious character - he was so lively and full of beans that I can't really believe that he is dead!

Carrie - yeah I feel extremely sorry and sad for his wife and children.

He must have been really loved! I've seen about 10 threads about him so far today! I know my husband loved watching his show.

Yep, so sad. I posted on the Aussie/NZ board just to give my sympathies. He's a big loss. A real adventurer. I for one will miss him - a great guy with passion and genuine love for our planet and all of nature.

I heard it this morning also, I was so shocked, was only watching a repeat show yesterday as well... I loved his shows, my thoughts are with his family right now x

I was so shocked when I heard the news. It's so tragic and he will be sorely missed. He was so young and he has such a young family who will miss him terribly. I guess one small blessing is that he died doing what he loved and that is how he would probably want to have gone.
