I just thought I would share that Vitex works!! I have been taking it for a little over a month and a couple weeks ago I thought I ovulated...but I wasn't sure. But the more amazing thing is that I got my period!! I haven't got a period naturally (without being induced by hormones) since I was like 15 (or younger). My hubby and I have taken a break from trying, but just being regulated is a wonderful feeling!
Here is what I am taking...
Vitex (800 mg) twice a day
Dong Quai (530 mg) in the AM
Cinnamon twice a day
Prenatal vitamin in the PM
I got all of them, except the prenatals, from Vitamin World.
If any of you are on the fence about trying herbals, I definitely think it is worth trying. And this is coming from someone who was VERY skeptical about them. But based on my FIRST month of trying them...I'm sold!

Vitex I currently take in pill form; however, I think this sort of depends on the brand you get. The recommended dosage is 30-40mg of the herb, so whatever that seems to work out to based on whatever the label says. You can take vitex your whole cycle, but stop it once pregnancy is confirmed.

I've been taking it for almost 2 months now to try to fix my LP. Mine have a much smaller dosage but I've been taking the max. It really helped last week (12 day lp instead of 9) but I have yet to O this month and that's really odd cause I usually O between day 16-18 and it's day 22 today. I dont know if Vitex has anything to do with this or if I'm just going to have a un-ovulatory cycle but I'm finding it very annoying.

Im not sure about some of you, but my DR told me Metformin Does absolutly NOTHING for PCOS and made me stop it immediatly when I went back to my regular DR after moving. And Actually when I did stop taking it and started the DONG QUAI that is when I conceived #2!
I'm happy with Vitex too. I've been taking it for 3 weeks, and my AF came a few days back. Instead of being extremely heavy (ultra tampon plus pad every hour), I actually went 3 whole hours without leaking during my heaviest day! Plus, only 4 days and it is stopping already, instead of running for 8! Yeah!

I was actually told the same thing about Met. Little scared I screwed up my first month of vitex. Did great taking it about the first week and a half, then started forgetting and was lucky to ge one in a day. Then the last day I forgot, I just didnt take another because I thought AF was coming(my bottle says to stop during menstration). Now Im 7 days late today and a negative HPT. Havent been late in years. Normally 31 day cycle. Idk whats going on but once its over Ive got a plan devised for the vitex

I am currently taking vitex i have yet to ovulate but hopeully i will see some improvement by october or i will go on clomid (hopefully) thanks for sharing ur story!

I am also taking vitex and have been for about 3 months now. I still havent started AF and I am on CD38. I usually only have around 1 to 2 afs a year not even naturally, I have to start them w/provera. I was hoping this would work for me. seems as it isnt though =(
You could always try Dong Quai along with Vitex. My friend has pcos and tried everything to get pregnant...all sorts of meds, surgeries, you name it! But she took Dong Guai and got a regular period 4 months later and then 2 months later she was pregnant!! So don't give hope (and I KNOW that is easier said then done).
Im on Dong Quai and Vitex, both purchased at GNC for under $15.00 Total! 100 Capsules each bottle, Ive been taking them for 5 days now and AF started today for me. I havent had AF in over 5 months!!! I got pregnant with #2 in 2005 on Dong Quai and Im hopping for #3! Never had AF come on this quick tho, so Im now not sure what to do? Being that Im taking Vitex this time and Heard your not suppose to take Vitex while menstrating, Do I Stop the Vitex now and when do I start it back then????
I take vitex for my whole cycle i took it for 3 months straight and every 30 days had a period then i stopped taking it when i started my period and after my period ended i started taking it again and i didn't get my period for 46 days! So now i take it my whole cycle and its back on every 30 days now...

o goodness I do hope vitex helps me. I have been on it for 2 months and a half..and am on CD 41 ..I hope it works for me..I can go as long as 6 or 7 months w/o AF =(
