Unhappy From one extreme to the next!

Okay, so I havn't posted for a while, but here is my story!
I have been off the pill for 5 years now, and never have a cycle since... then all of a sudden in November last year AF suddenly showed up. I was so happy (silly hey) but now I am STILL having that same AF cycle, no break! I thought of just leaving it to see if it will correct itself. I also wanted to try get my system to sort itself out, and to get rid of all the fertility treatments & different medications. Now its been 5 MONTHS since AF showed up, and she is seriously becoming an unwelcomed guest!!!
I am now starting to read all these stories of what it could be, like Fibroids, tumors, cancer.... Yeikes!!! Anyone had a similar experience??

I'm sorry I have no advice, as it's never happened to me. But I would definetly call the MD. Having AF for that long would have me at my witts end. Best of luck!

Sorry I can't offer any help either, but this must be driving you crazy. In the past I have had AF for about a month, but no longer than that. Have you discussed this with your doctor?

The only time I have ever had this problem is when I started bcp, not stopped. I had my period straight for something like 30 days YUCK!!. . I cant even imagine what you are going through..I am sorry I cannot offer better advice, but I would def. consider talking to your doctor.

I haven't ever stopped having periods. I usually have really regular periods, and i just got mine less than a week and a half from the last day of my last period. and i am worried about that. I cant imagine 5 months of AF...

Well, in my own experiences, the longer a cycle skips the longer it will last when it finally comes back. It seems that what you're experiencing is the flow from all the back up over the years.

None of it's healthy as all that stored blood can lead to other more serious issue over time--or so I've read from my research. The longest I've skipped is 4 months so I can't compare to 5 years; but I feel your frustration.

When I skipped those 4 mos--AF came back in town and stayed for about 1 1/2 mos so that's why I say that's just a lot of AF that came from all the backflow I would think. It begs to be questioned for sure though.

The things we endure....*shakes head*

Good luck with your inquiries cyster.

I don't know how your flow has been, but you might want to call the dr. about it. If it has been heavy, they might want to test for anemia.

I had an appt yesterday that I made on Tuesday because AF was so heavy and full of large clots and had been around for almost 3 weeks. Of course on Wednesday, the clots had decreased in size, and by the time of my appt my flow was almost non-existant. I still went though because I wanted to talk about PCOS. Dr. is going to do the tests for PCOS but also wanted to make sure to check for anemia and maybe iron def. since my past few periods had all lasted a long time and were very heavy.

Also, I know you are TTC, but you may need some hormones or to go back on BCP briefly so that you can have a few AF for health reasons.

Hi ya

My friend who suffers with pcos bleeds most of the time. She bleeds so bad that she ends up in a and e quite often i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have a bed just for her. It is possible that it is pcos but i would see your doctor just to make sure. I to have bled for weeks about a month in total and that was bad enough! when i bled for a month i ended up needing some tablets to stop it so i could have a break. I was stuck in the cycle and needed a tablet simlar to the pill to correct it.

see your doctor just for a check up.

Ughh, i can sympathise totally! At the beginning of Feb this year i started a period, it kept going until i had bled for 3 weeks and it was VERY heavy and clotty. I ended up in a&e one night cause there was blood EVERYWHERE! I thought i was bleeding to death. I had to take some tablets to stop the bleeding and the bleeding did stop. I started the next cycle about 2 weeks after that and it lasted about 2 weeks. I went to my doctors and had a barrage of blood tests and i told my doc that i thought i had PCOS as i had heaps of the other sxs. When the blood tests came back he said everything looked normal except that my sex hormone binding-globulin was way out of whack which means PCOS. All the best, i hope you get some answers soon.

I feel for you hun. I've had a similar problem in that I've been bleeding for 2.5 months, it's enough to drive you crazy! What happened with me was I went back on the pill in December and that's when the problems started! I'm taking progesterone tablets to stop the bleeding. I had an internal and external ultrasound the other day as I had the same concerns as you, fibroids, cysts etc and it's all clear thank god.

One thing that can be done is a curette, which I believe is done when your lining is really thick. I would strongly suggest seeing your doc or gyn asap to do something about this sweetheart, you shouldn't bleed for 5 months. Also, you will be low on iron, I am from all the bleeding, and feel so so exhausted. One thing that helped with my energy levels was a vitamin b injection.

Go see your doc asap and sort this out hun, you don't have to live like this.

((((hugs))))

i had af for 6 months one time, it was not heavy though it was like the last couple days of a normal cycle. it really does mess with your head, something breaks. this past month it lasted 2 weeks and i was a mess, nobody really understood, but all I could think was that it wouldn't stop like last time. I feel ya on that front. Also, provera made it very very very bad thought i was losing organs, and the dr also gave me something different to make me stop, it was not bcp or provera. it was something else.
nightmare and Aliebell mentioned pills to make it stop, do you guys know what that was? i am very interested in knowing in case it happens again. they only want to give me provera. i just don't understand that.
