on sunday is the one year anniversary of my grandfather's death, i am not sure how to cope, i feel sad, stressed because of all the uni work, all my medical conditions are playing up and i feel as though i wanna scream then crawl into a corner where no one can see me
knowing the anniversary is nearing i am feeling all these emotions and memories arising - and on sunday my family will visit the cemetery and have a one year remeberance mass, i am not sure if i will be able to hold up

Oh Hon, I definately know how hard it is to lose someone you love so much. The anniversary can be hard. Something I try to do on the annivesary of losing someone I love, is to spend some quiet time thinking back to the really good and fun times we had, thinking about all the great traditions we had or something funny they would do. I like to write these things down and write a letter to my loved one. It might be a little strange, but I still talk to them, it makes me feel better. I'll make a meal that my Grandma loved to make or sing my Grandpa's favorite song, Amazing Grace, or do a craft in memory of my aunt because crafting was something she loved to do! Allow yourself to feel the emotions so they don't get bottled up, be good to yourself on Sunday. Remember his life, not his death.

I know anniversaries are pretty hard and one thing that has helped me cope is remembering my great grandma (GG) everyday instead of just when reminded. She taught me that little rhyme "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight..." Well, every night I look up at the sky and recite the poem and remember her. I find that when the anniversary comes around, it's easier because the feelings are eased out over the year instead of being bottled up and released all in one day.
maybe you could make a specail time of the day to remember him. it gets easier every day.

We're here for you sweetie! I still cry when I think about my dad who died 3/1/04. It's getting better, but it's still very sad. Cry if you need to. Don't hold it back. It will make you feel better and help you heal.
