Post some depression resources that i've found on the 'net

there are a lot of good internet sites out there for metal health resources. if you're looking for something and you can't find it here, just google it.

http://www.socialpsychology.org/clinical.htm#megasites this is a link to a "megasite" listing of resources- from specific problems to medications to finding a therapist. it seems like a good place to start.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinical_depression i like the wikipedia entries because there are links to so many different aspects of the topic you are searching. AND, if you scroll all the way down, there is usually a pretty comprehensive (or at least quasi-helpful) set of links to more detailed resources.

http://www.nami.org/Content/ContentG...e_Programs.htm this has links to prescription drug assistance programs. it is indexed both by drug name and by drug company. check out the links way at the bottom for links to larger rx assistance sites.

http://depression.about.com/ this is a typical about.com site. lots of articles on a variety of topics. not always in-depth information, but can provide a starting point.

http://www.dbsalliance.org/ depression and bipolar support group site. has info and links to find local support in your area.

http://www.psychologyinfo.com/depression/ more depression information.

http://www.healingwell.com/depression/ links to articles and message boards

http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.html another site with links to many articles and resources

http://www.depression.com/web_resources.html site with links to most of the "official" mental health associtations.

http://www.fpnotebook.com/PSYCh5.htm this is more healthcare practictioner-oriented, but has some good info in outline form. clicking the links will take you to even more information, probsbly more than what you wanted to know. i di find the medication evaluations helpful- they give information on dosage, side effects, cost, etc.

www.emedicine.com i personally like this site. you do need to register to obtain access to the articles, but is has detailed and in-depth information on all kinds of illness and medications.

ok, i think that's enough. sorry to bombard you all with information... i tend to go overboard at times. thorough is good, right? i hope this information is helpful to you.

Default A fantastic site I found

My DH was Dx'd with depression in March and this site has literally been a life saver for him. http://www.clinical-depression.co.uk/index.htm We also bought the e-book treatment program and have been going through it and it has helped immensely! It talks about depressive thought patterns, excessive rumination (chewing over negative thoughts in your head) and over-dreaming, and how that all feeds the depression cycle. I can't recommend this site highly enough! I hope it can provide some relief to my cysters suffering from depression

It seems as though carbs HELP with depression? *However*, we with PCOS all know we should avoid avoid carbs / sugars in general, to reduce insulin resistence and elevated androgens. This is a contradiction. So we to suffer all the PCOS symptoms, try to avoid carbs, but it turns out carbs help with depression? I don't know what to do!! Any thoughts anyone?
