Is there anyone else out there on only 500 mgs of Met? I am not IR and have been on Met since the beginning of September. At my last appointment, my doctor wanted to run blood tests and I asked if I should increase the dose. When I called later, I was told that she said there was no need to increase it. I have been reading a lot that says 1500 mgs is the effective dose.
I was just wondering if I am the only one on this low of a dose.
I tried posting this earlier, but my 'puter froze up...
I've been on Met since around June or July or...well sometime last summer anyway, and I'm only on 500 mg. I quit taking BCP when I started it, and my period has been every 30 days since. That's never happened without taking BCP. Not sure if I'm ovulating or not, since I'm not actively TTC yet. Just wanted you to know you're not alone.

I am just on 500mg a day, had no problems with it but then only been on it for 10 days. Gonna see if my nurse will put me up to 1000mg a day when I see her Friday.

I have decided to wait to change my dosage. I have tried being stricter with my diet to see if that will help with the weight. I was just nervous because of all the women that are on so much more. It really reassures me that there are others taking the same dosage
I'm on 500 too, since January 1. I'm not tracking temps or anything yet, but am hopeful that this will be enough to regulate my 43-55 day cycle!!! Good luck to you!!!!
I was on 500mg also for quite a few years. I recently have been having irregular periods and now this month its very late. My Dr. told me to up it to 1500mg. I have an appt. later this week. my weight, diet and activity levels have been steady and nothing has changed so I do not know why the sudden problems are happening. I do not know if there is such a thing as met resistance. I guess we'll see if it helps. I posted a message on this site yesterday posing the very same question. Has this happened to anyone else???
Thanks again to all the responses It really does make me feel better about the lower dosage.
explora - That is a problem I am having right now. I have skipped two periods since they were regular and I am waiting to see if it comes this month. I am supposed to go in for an appointment in May, but if I miss three months in a row, I am going to have to call sooner than that. I don't know about the met resistance though. I am sure there are other people out there with the same experiences.
