Smile Only alternative treatment

I just wanted to know from someone out there who has completely stopped taking PCOS meds like Met, Spiro and BCP's and also switched to herbs or vitamins.
How do you feel now the same, better or worse?
What about weight gain etc?
I would really appreciate your input

I don't have any advice, but I am considering the same thing as a result of health insurance issues. So, thank you for asking these questions and I look forward to the replies!

I stopped taking meds after losing 45 pounds because I didn't want to have to take them forever and I wasn't ttc any more I was not really informed about all the other reasons for taking the meds so I just stopped, I kept losing the weight and my periods have been normal for almost 3 and a half years. And when I try I definitely can lose weight its not easy at all it takes so much more work then when I was on the pill but I know I can do it.

I have never taken anything other than birth control years ago. I took met for a couple of weeks once, but it made me so sick i stopped. My fertility dr told me that the reason it made me so sick was because I did not need it. She said that you only need it if you are insulin resistant, and I am not. I think that dr's over percribe this, I have had 2 drs tell me I need it without even testing me.

keeping the faith...you are right! Everyone should be tested for insulin resistance. It can be done with a simple glucose and insulin blood test.
My doctor doesn't prescribe it without testing.
I am at a perfect weight...and I am not insulin resistant!

I have had bad drs and bad or no insurance so I never took any rx for pcos, though when I was young (many many years before I was dxd) I was put on BCPs for my whacky periods and acne (stupid drs didn't dx me then even though I had all the signs!) the pill gave me a blood clot.

I feel better having recently restarted with alternative treatments. I had been doing a bunch of alt. treatments years ago but fell off the wagon because I was feeling so good and wanted to see if I could save money and time without them. lol I saved money, but gained weight and hair.

I was diagnosed with depression about a year and a half ago, and the doctor just put me on Prozac. At the time I did not realize that depression went hand in hand with PCOS. Yes, I did tell the doctor VERY CLEARLY that I have PCOS, she just glossed over it. I was also given ativan to help with stress and to help me sleep.

After a year of this, I started to research and figured out that my depression could very well be coming from my PCOS. I started on alternative remedies January 1, and I have never felt better in my life. I have stopped taking all chemicals and I feel so much better - more energy, etc.

Good luck, I hope you find what works for you!

TMI-- but i've noticed i've had pretty regular BM.. and i know i didn't before.. but as far as energy.. i do have more energy now than i did before i started taking the flaxseeds.. i bought mine at walmart.. it's a 16oz black tub like thing if you will and it was like 8 dollars.. well worth it if you ask me
