My Mood: Points: 10,969.00 Bank: 5,193.51 Total Points: 16,162.51 | Only in Canada This is probably a controversial subject but I do feel it's something that our government is doing wrong. I am posting it more to have my Canadian Cysters aware of why their parents are struggling, but know someone new to our country that is very comfortably well off. I can't see how this is an incentive for these people to begin a working life in Canada.
Even the people on Welfare and Disability don't make as much a month as these people. I don't understand the government's reasons for this either.
Read it for yourself and ask some of the seniors around you if it is true about their end of it.
(note: I am supporting 4 people with my disability cheques and they don't come close to what a single refugee would be making from our government. I can't make ends meet and have had to go to Food banks, but these people are treated like they are even better than the immigrants who pay to come to our country?? It has no logic at all.)
I don't mean to offend anyone, just make the facts known to everyone. I apologize to anyone I've offended by posting this. F.B.
CANADA PENSION
Only in Canada.
Do not apply for your old age pension. Apply to
be a refugee.
It is interesting that the federal government
provides a single refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890.00 and each
can get an additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total of
$2,470.00.
This compares very well to a single pensioner
who, after contributing to the growth and development of Canada for 40 or 50
years, can only receive a monthly maximum of $1,012.00 in old age pension
and Guaranteed Income Supplement.
Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees!
Let's send this thought to as many Canadians as
we can and maybe we can get the refugees cut back to $1,012.00 and the
pensioners up to $2,470.00, so they can enjoy the money they were forced to
submit to the Canadian government for those 40 to 50 years.
Please forward this to every Canadian you know.

If someone wants to do some research and see if there is any truth to it...it would be great. I think if it does hapen to be true, it's not necessarily fair but what can we do about it(yes I know it takes one person to make a difference...but it's not going to be me tonight)
If anyone has any problems with this topic, please let me know. |

I had a quick look, and from what I have read, the refugee assistance is only available in certain circumstances, not to all refugees, and ends once the refugee can support him/herself or after 1 year, whichever comes first. The money is largely to set up a new home for people who come in with nothing, a totally different situation from a pensioner.

My Mood: Points: 10,969.00 Bank: 5,193.51 Total Points: 16,162.51 | I'm sorry I posted this I apologize for posting this cr*p.
I did look it up on the Urban Legends site www.snopes.com, which is the only reason I posed it at all. I have never found something I've seen on the net more than once, like this, that isn't on that site. Guess you can't even trust them to have seen it if it's not there.
I was told that it was false too and found the government site that showed the government rules about refugees. I'd forgotten I'd posted this here, but I did send out emails to my contacts that I had sent the original email to with the addy and the facts corrected.
I apologize again.
I will wear a paperbag for a week in shame...

I think we have all posted things at one time another that we regret. I do believe there is alot of unfairness when it comes to people in our country and our government(Sorry Sandra)
I just saw on the news a couple weeks ago(and can't find a link)that the government preaches we follow a good diet & fitness(which will later help reduce healthcare costs) and yet they spent some ridulous amount like $60000 on pizza and $10000 on doughnuts and coffee last year. Although you can't always believe what you read or see on tv, I can't find anything prove this to be untrue.
This money could help both refugees and pensioners. |

Your in Canada. show respect please! Please keep in mind this is just my opinion and as far as i remember that was legal to have!
