The opposite of PMS? Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has the 'opposite' of PMS. I feel the best when most women have PMS- the week or so before my period, and during my period. The rest of the time, I'm feeling pretty badly.
I have long cycles, 5-6 weeks. The follicular phase lasts 4 to 4.5 weeks and the luteal phase lasts the final 1-1.5 weeks. After the end of my period I start getting increasingly tired for a couple weeks, then I've two more weeks where I'm so tired I can hardly get out of bed. Then I finally ovulate, and begin to feel increasingly better - the week or so before my period, when many women feel the worst and have PMS, etc. Then my period starts and I feel OK again.
I've been tracking my sleep, too, and during my follicular phase, I'll average over 10 hours of sleep a night. When I'm in the luteal phase, I'll average around 6.
I do not have PCOS, at one time they thought I did but it has been subsequently eliminated by almost every test. At one point my Free T3 fell below range, however I was a competitive athlete and not eating enough to support training (was eating around 1750 calories a day but burning LOTS more), which was messing up my whole endocrine system. That is taken care of now, and everything has come back in line except the long mentstrual cycles with the extreme fatigue. Anyone else know anything about this?
I went to a reproductive endocrinologist who ruled out polyps, as well. I've started back on the birth control pill because I'm at a last resort.
Thanks in advance,
