Question Options?

Is there anyone who is taking something other than metformin for PCOS?? I am going to see a RE at the end of the month, and I wanted some ideas for different meds that you can take other than metformin?? I have had PCO for 10 years and metformin and me don't agree... so can someone help me?

I also don't do well on Met. Maybe try the alternative medicine board! Chromium, magnesium, cinnamon, and vinegar have worked for some! May be more!

I'm curious to know why you ladies do not like metformin, or what has caused you to stop taking it. I've been on it for around 3 years and am thinking of stopping it to see how I feel. I'm only on 500 mg.

Alternative therapies like diet and exercise, an insulin resistance diet? Birth control pills and other hormonal regulators may help your symptoms also.

Hi
There are two other meds that can be given instead of using Metformin.

Precose and Actos. My RE said that they do not have all the GI effects that Met does.

The down side of these meds? You have to have a liver panel done on a regular basis due to liver toxicity.
