Default Ortho Evra....BC patch

Has anyone talked to their doctor about this? Would the hormones in it be suitable for women with PCOS?

Here is the website Ortho Evra

The hormones are norelgestromin and ethinyl estradiol. I saw the research article Kat posted about oral vs transdermal (patch) birth control, with the patch being better for women with PCOS, but the BC tested was not the same as those in Ortho Evra.

I"ll ask my doc next time I see him, but it may not be for a while.

I have used it and yes I was told by my RE that it is appropriate for PCOS. IT is very similar to ortho cyclen, a low androgenic pill. I felt pretty good on it but the glue made skin skin rash so off it came. GOod luck!

Default Thanks Chrissy

My skin is not sensitive at all so I may be a good candidate for this. I'll talk to my doc at my annual appt.

Well, unfortunately my endocrine dr told me the opposite about the patch. I was on it for 8 or 9 months. This is my first month off it and am now trying to conceive. I told him that the patch had not made my facial hair any better and he said it wouldn't. Something about how the actual pill passes through your liver but the patch doesn't.

Using the patch was great for me though...finally a regular period! And I didn't have a problem keeping it on either. I wore it on my lower back. One thing to note though is, it isn't as inconspicuous as it looks on the commercial! There is ALWAYS dark lint surrounding it from your clothes.
