I have not tried the patch... but I read once that the patch is a good option for women who experience loss of libido when they go on the BCP. The reason is, since the hormones are administered transdermally instead of orally, they bypass the liver and somehow this results in the patch causing less of a rise in sex hormone binding globulen (SHBG) then the pill. SHBG is what limits the effects of excess hormones in the blood, including testosterone, on the body - and this can result in the diminished sex drive that many women experience on the pill. However it is the increase in SHBG that also results in less acne, hair loss, etc for a woman with PCOS - so I concluded from that article that the patch would be a poor option for a woman with PCOS. Just using my noodle there, not scientific proof. Interested that you had a bad experience with it... maybe I was right!
