I was on it last summer. I had problems w/ it staying on and had some bleeding issues everytime I dropped weight. I ended up getting pregnant in the process. I did like it for convience verses taking the pill another con was my insurance didn't pay much on it.
I am going to try the patch..I heard good and bad things about this..such as the one mentioned above(about it falling off). BUt it's got to better than the pill I'm on. I have no sex drive since I have been on the pill.
I have been using it for 5 months. I had terrible migraines from pills pluss no sex-drive, so desided to give it a try. Absolutly no side effects, after two weeks learned to put it on so it does not come off too soon and at the moment I like it. Biggest pluss is that no more PMS! Only problem is that it is quite big and in summer on the beach there are no way I can hide it

I'm on the patch and love it! I can't take the pill because of absorbtion issues with my gastric bypass. I've been on it since October of last year and have had no problems. I love that every Sunday I take one off...and put another one on...love it! It's very easy.

Oh yea...one more thing...my OB/GYN advised me to not do the patch until I was under 200 lbs otherwise it becomes less effective...just thought I should share that...

I tried the patch....I hated it....it gave me terrible mood swings, and I had a horrible time getting it to stay on...maybe b/c it didn't like bending on fat rolls...hmmm. But others have used it and loved it...I prefer Nuvaring, it is even better because you only have to think about it once a month....in for 3 weeks out for one, and start all over. It has been wonderful for me. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I have a ffiend with pcos and she is on the patch and loves but my dr said if a birth control pill won't help regulate me then neither will a birth control patch. all i know is i need help with all my bleeding. any suggestions?
I have been on the patch since september of last year continously no breaks. My doc prescribes me 4 patchs at a time. the first 4 months were a pain in the ass getting adjusted to it as for bleeding and cramps, but now I have a little cramping and little break through bleeding like I had on the pills or shots. I'm MUCH happier on the patch.
There are downfalls about using the patch though.. IT is extremely important to be underneanth 200 pounds when using the patch, you have to put it on a surface of your skin that doesn't bend that much and being fat and trying to hide the patch from public viewing, your buttcheek/hips are about the only places it works. You have to vigoursly clean where you place the new patch at each week, wait about 15 minutes after you get out of the bath or shower, do not put lotion or anything else where the patch will be placed at. I also recommend do not go swimming for about 12 hours after you place that patch. I'm a regular swimmer and I do have problems with the patch sometimes, 90% of the time it stays on though. I know it's irritating when it starts to partially come off. Do wear underwear that covers up where the patch is at so your jeans/shorts/skirts will not rub on it. Each week change sides if you are using it on ur butt, and the past time to take the patch off is in the shower!
goodluck

Well my problem is i have tried ortho-lo but had major bleeding with it and don't want to stay on it. then my doctor wanted to give me the shot but i heard horror stories about weight gain and bleeding with it. i just want something to help regulate my bleeding. i go so heavy i go through a super plus tampon and a pad sometimes in as little as 20 minutes. i am desperate for help.
I've not done the patch, but I wanted to warn summer_dawn away from the depo shot...IMO it causes PCOS, or worsens it exponentially. When I skipped my last shot, I bled for 4 months straight every day.

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.
I was on the depo shot for about a year and had no problems with break through bleeding at all and didn't find that it worsened my symptoms and in fact when i did my last shot i didn't bleed at all. I think Birth control affects everyone differently, and It's a trial and error thing to find one that fits you.
