Default Ortho Tri Cyclen

KOk I have read that Ortho has been bad for some of you but can you go into some more detail? I have started it about a week ago and I have been miserable! Please let me know what kind of side effects you had and maybe I wont feel like I have been imagining anything or if it is because of the ortho.

Gave me some awful headaches, and a voracious appetite(just what I needed, NOT!) It all lessened after about 2 months, and I stayed on it for 3years. Hope you feel better soon.

It gave me the HEAVIEST periods of ALL freaking time. It just felt too "harsh" on my body. Yet I was put on the at 15 and continued to take them for years b/c i thought it was just "normal" to have that heavy of periods. Yasmine was much more gentle on my body.

I love my ortho, but it has definitely given me PMS like I don't remember having before. Granted, I've only had a couple unassisted periods in my life so maybe I'm not the best source for this. But I remember wondering what all the fuss about PMS was (considering that the few unassisted periods I had were horrifically long and heavy, I figured that I would get it then if I ever would). Now I basically plan to sit on the couch the day before my period every month if I can, because I don't feel like doing anything and I get cramps. but for me, it's worth it. I also got bigger boobs, which I'm okay with!

Ortho Tri gave me morning sickness (major vomiting) when the hormone dosage increased and made my sad and weepy. I'll never take another tri-phasic or bi-phasic pill!

I as on Ortho Tri for about 2 years when I STOPPED having perionds. I went to the Dr and they gave me Yasmin (which I loved). She told me that she was very surprised that I hadn't gotten pregnant while on the Ortho Tri, when I asked her why she said that the make up of the pill is mainly for complextion and pms symptoms and is one of the worst on protection.

I have never had any problems with ortho... but everyone is different! The only thing I noticed was actually a decrease in appetite, if anything

I was on ortho for a couple years it seemed it worsend my acne but then again I have always had an acne problem so its hard to tell whether it helped or not. the only thing that I remember about it for sure is the worst hunger. i could eat and eat and eat. worse appetite than pregnancy for me.

I took Ortho Tricyclen when I was 17-19. I hated it. I got these horrible headaches where I was light and sound sensitive. I also had high blood pressure and gained some weight. That was partly my fault, but I hated those headaches!
I was completely regular before Ortho and afterwards I had symptoms of PCOS. I went 3 years without regular AF, and then was finally diagnosed. I don't know if it was b/c it was so strong, but I won't take the Pill again b/c of that.

Good luck! I hope you don't have the same problem!

Thumbs down Hate Ortho Tri Cyclen

I took myself off of it after 6 months of "giving it a try". It gave me worse PMS than I had before, however, it did get rid of my PCOS symptoms. My ovaries are back to PAINFUL encounters. I experienced IBS-like symptoms prior to my period more when I took that pill. I kind of had enough of MD intervention, so I decided to get off and stay off on my own. I was on Ortho Cyclen for 10 years, and I really seemed to do quite well on that. If you don't like Ortho Tri Cyclen, try Ortho Cyclen. Just a thought...

I was on OTC for a year and I hated, hated, hated it. It made my breasts very sore, it felt like they were on fire and I couldn't stand for anything to touch them, not even clothing. I had pelvic heaviness all the time. By the time I came off of it and onto Yasmin, I'd had a month long period. I had headaches all the time. Cramps like you wouldn't believe. Overall it was just a bad experience for me.
