Unhappy I don't know, but...

I don't know about the osteoporosis, but I have a horrid gut feeling I may be shrinking! Yes, you read right. My old pants seem to be dragging lately at the hem and I was measured at 5-4 and a half instead of my old 5-5 the other day. I hope it is just my imagination. Doesn't osteoporosis have something to do with estrogen? I'm 27, also young.

Did you get your calcium levels checked or your parathyroid hormone?

I have hyperpara thyroid, which doesnt let you absorb calcium the way it should be absorbed...luckioly mine is extremely mild, but get your bootie to an endocrinologist!

Post Hi again.

I have had calcium levels checked before and they were okay, but not the parathyroid. I will push for it at the next appointment--my endo just ran thousands worth of tests (the 24-hr cortisol, male hormones, and my most awaited, the after-product of DHT measuring test plus more) so I will push for PTH next time. She ran regular thyroid including T3 and a separate doc is running salivary thyroid so we will see. Tithers, what were your other symptoms for hyper parathyroid? Did you lose hair or eyebrows or have manly weight gain? You can email me if you like,

Heya, not sure if I have symptoms of the parathyroid, but my levels are borderline...on high end of normal. Did you also do a 24 hour urine? If your PTH comes back high then you will want to push for a nuclear scan of your parathyroid and an ultrasound on your thyroid/parathyroid. I found that web md has been a good source of info for all that stoof. Patients with really advanced parathyroid have severe symptoms.
I also had to get an Mri done when they first discovered the PTH problem to rule out pituitary gland tumor.
Also, what was your calcium level exactly?
Are you seeing an endocrinologist. If not GET ONE!!!!
I know this doesnt answer much, but I do know how frustrating everything is...
Doesnt make sense...having Osteoperosis and normal calcium levels...Mine usually hang around 10.4-8. Doc says once it hits 11 time to go under the knife. Please keep us updated.
