Hey guys. This has nothing to do with anything, but it's driving me mad. I have this big round scab at the corner of my mouth. I don't know how it got there or what caused it or anything, but it refuses to heal properly. It'll start to scab over all nicely, but then as soon as I yawn or bite my lip or anything, it breaks open and starts bleeding like crazy. Is there anything I can do to soften the scab, or make it stop breaking open so it can just heal? It really hurts every time it breaks, and I'm worried it's going to scar. Thanks guys!

When I was younger people used to tell me I had the body of a dancer. Well, I don't anymore. I have the body of a goddess.
If you have a problem with it healing or it keeps coming back make sure you're taking a good vitamin. Cracked corners is a symptom of vitamin B deficiency. I had it really bad until I started taking a multivitamin.
It could also be a yeast infection, especially if you tend to gather moisture in your corners.

Keeping the wound moist is the worst thing you can do. As this can cause an infection in the wound, due the fact that bacteria like warm damp conditions, the wound needs to be kept clean & dry.
As this is damage to the original tissue there may well be scarring left. This is due to the way new tissue grows & nothing you can do will prevent this.
The best thing to help wounds heal is a good diet.
Definitely keep it clean and dry. I can't imagine walking around with a moist, gooey scar on the side of my mouth. Just be extra careful for the next few days how big you open your mouth. Oh, and I agree on the vitamin thing too.

It could be a fever blister. And those with IR have a harder time getting things to heal right.
My mom always uses blistex products. she says it works the fastest for her.
Good luck,
BTW, you may need to throw out any lipstick or chapstick products.
Also change your tooth brush.

Go by some vitamin E capsules. Take a pin or earing and put a whole in it and put it directly on it every night. See how it is doing in about 3 days. Vitamin E is great on stuff of this nature. It is better than Neosphorine.
I think I just read in the Reader's Digest that you should keep cuts moist. Just a light layer of vaseline should help. It also said that neosporin is not good because it can cause allergies.
It sounds like you have a cold sore.. (Herpes Simplex 1(HSV1) infects the mouth (cold sores)).
The virus is very distinct. An outbreak starts with one or a few small blisters. The blisters rupture and form scabs indicating the end of the outbreak. Outbreaks generally last a few days and often occur during stress.
During this blister phase any area of broken skin or mucosa, including eyes, mouth, esophagus, anus and vagina can be infected.
Anyone having symptoms of oral or genital herpes infections must not allow these areas to come into direct contact with another person. When the virus has been transmitted, the infection is permanent
It may not be a cold sore but its worth getting it looked at or trying one of the above. A friend of mine was always getting cold sores if she was stressed, ill or run down...
