I wasn't sure where to post this, but I chose the adoption forum because you ladies are the ones I am closest to here and this is a very personal issue for me..

I don't know if any of you have heard of the Out of the Darkness Overnight or not, but I'm considerring signing up for it. It's a 20 mile walk along Chicago's lake front to benefit suicide prevention. This is something very near and dear to me because I tried to commit suicide in 1998 and survived. As a result of that, I have a lot of friends who struggle with depression and suicidal ideation (support groups/message boards). The thing that's kind of scaring me off (other than the fact that I've never done ANYTHING like this before and am not in the best physical condition) is that I would have to raise $1000 to be able to participate. I'm not asking anyone for money at this point, but I would really appreciate it if you guys could check out the website and tell me if its something you might consider donating for. I just want to get a feel for how willing people are to donate for this before I spend $75 to register, hours of training and even more hours of fundraising only to find out no one is interested in donating. I understand a lot of people aren't able to donate for various reasons, but if you think you might be able to help my fundraising efforts, please let me know. I need to make a decision by the middle of next week so I can get my doctor's clearance letter when I go to my regular appointment.
