The negligence of doctors today (who have so much technology and knowledge at their disposal) is appalling. I am frightened that my PCOS might even be a misdiagnoses for something else. I kind of have a feeling that I could have Cushings because I am a sufferer of Asthma who has been of Prednisone(a corti-steroid) for a good while. PCOS does run in my family... so I would not rule it out, I probably do have it as well. I don't know anymore though...

Hello i understand insulin restraintough no one hth syndrome is to do with hormones no one has explained it - i was simply given 1500 metformin and orlistat, now 6 month on i am no further foward - simply more hormonsl, really depressed and feel like i have no one 2 talk 2 - it defo dont help when your friend who is a year younger announces the pregnancy of the decade (make that her 2nd pregnancy of the decade her son in 8 months,.) i try not to be moody about it - i love the fact she is havin another baby but obv it mkes my pain more raw , ne 1 else feels the same

A little book I found on my shelf mentions a bit on oestrogen dominance and generally talks about natural remedies for balancing hormones it is called
balancing hormones natually by kate neil and patrick holford (optimum nutrition handbook)
ISBN NO 0 7499 1863 2 I did find it on amazon.com when I looked, may be of use to some people.some of the subjects covered are diet and dietary supplements, PMT, infertility, candida,stress and effect on hormones, osteoporosis, natural progersterone it's only a little book hope it's of help

Hi all. Very new here...first time. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right or not, but I'll throw my question out there and hope that someone could give me some insight. I've been dealing with the typical PCOS symptoms since puberty. Always got the runaround with the docs who always wanted to put me on the pill to regulate me. I wanted to know WHY I had these problems. I was on and off different pills and meds for years. Finally, I was desperate for help and I had to lie to a reproductive endocrinologist telling her that I was ready to conceive because that was the only way to get her to treat me. She only cares about getting women pregnant and not really caring about helping women like me with all of these terrible hormonal inconsistencies. So, in the meantime I was ordered all kinds of tests in which my progesterone was lower than a post-menopausal person. I was only 34 at the time!! To make a long story short, she did a procedure (hysteroscopy?) and found major endometriosis, polyps galore and she drilled holes in my ovaries to help stimulate ovulation. ANYWAY, I was happy to have the surgery even though I had to lie because I knew something wasn't right. My periods were regular for the FIRST time in my life, no joking. I had them regular for about 16 months or so and now in the last 4 months they've been consistently 2 weeks late. The more research I do the more confused I get. I have been on natural bio-identical progesterone cream to get my levels up although I don't think it is working as well as I would like. My question is this...can someone be extremely progesterone deficient (mind you, I have no thyroid issues) and estrogen deficiency. Usually you hear when a woman is progesterone deficient that they are automatically considered estrogen dominant. I'm thinking that I may have both deficiencies. Any suggestions about that? I hope I wasn't too cryptic and scattered but it is such a long story and I just wanted to address the immeidate situation. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I have sworn off medical doctors and am going more alternative. Right now, the only thing I'm taking for the hormone issue is the prog. cream. Thanks!!

yikes. you all have freaked me out. about all the cushings being misdiagnosed with pcos. my mom has always thought i had cushings because i have all the symptoms, then i was diagnosed with pcos, the only thing that didn't line up is my "buffalo back" over the past few weeks i've been reading more and more about cushings and the more and more it sounds like me. the first time i was told about pcos and i looked it up online i said yep thats me and my diagnosis proved me right. i have that feeling about cushings. theres just something in my gut that makes me feel that way. as i saw someone post above they suffered from asmtha and had been on alot of prednisone. mirror image. i have asmtha very bad and chronic bhronchitus and have for years and had always been treated by prednisone. so now i'm just ahhh freaking out after reading everything. i made an appt last week and see my dr. friday and i am asking him to test me for cushings. 2 questions though. 1) i read online about how they do the testing for cushings and where it was talking about taking the pill and getting the blood drawn i read somewhere where it said being extremely overweight could alter the results.. well i AM extremely overweight so i was wondering if they should do different testing or if it actually wouldnt alter it. 2) in the past year i found out i have a small cyst on my brain on the left temporal lobe. they watched it for 6 months and it did not grow or change. now i know alot with the cushings syndrome its a tumor on the pituritary gland but i was wondering if maybe this cyst could some how be related? i would like some of yalls thoughts on those ideas and too just any advice.
