Default Ouch...Pain inside my ear

I've been having this pain in my left ear for a while now, but I really didn't think much of it because it was infrequent and didn't last long. In the last week or so it is more persistent and happens several times an hour. Sometimes it only hurts for 10 seconds and other times for much longer.

I did some research and it said that there could be several causes so of which could be unrelated to my ear but reverted from somewhere else and in adults it is less likely an ear infection. Some cites said that it could be from an impacted tooth, but I JUST went to the dentist last week so I don't think it could be that. I don't have allergies, or sinus problems either. There is no drainage and it isn't swimmers ear because I haven't been swimming yet this year.

Has anyone had this problem or symptoms?

I'm going to go to the doctor to have it checked out, but I probably can't get there until the beginning of next week so that is why I'm asking you ladies. Any help would be appreciated.

I've had that, too! I get it a couple of times per month without warning, and have for years. I've never talked to a doctor about it. I've never had an impacted tooth, and haven't swam in a couple of years.

If you find out what it is, please let us know. Good luck! :-)

I would suggest a possibility of bruxism, as I had intense ear pain when I started clenching my teeth in my sleep, but your dentist likely would have noticed some small amount of wear on your teeth. Hope you can figure out what it is.

I found out my ear pain was dental related. I had to have a root canal on a tooth that one day out of the blue started to hurt. This tooth hadn't given me any problems before, but ever since I had the root canal my ear hasn't hurt. Its strange how some things that seem unrelated, actually are connected.
