Yesterday morning I woke up with a feeling of something tearing or ripping in my lower left abdomen. It was bad enough to wake me up, but it eventually went away. It came back later a few times off and on, and then again last night. Can anyone tell me what this might be? I just got over my period about 5 days ago. I don't think I am ovulating.
Is the pain when you twist or turn or roll over in bed? It sounds like round ligamnet pain. Usually you get that when you are pregnant. Did you have a full period or was it spotting? I have gotten the ligamnet pain without being pregnant too. But usually it's a prgnancy thing. is it possible you could be pregnant?

Hi ..The last time I had pain like that, I had a good sized cyst on my ovary. if it continues..even off and on, I'd go see your OB/GYN to be checked. Pain in the lower abdominal area can be anything...urinary tract infection/ovarian cyst/constipation....best to get it checked.....
It hurts MORE when I turn or twist. But it hurts whether I move or not My cycle was really heavy for two days then nothing except when I wiped... but nothing that would show up on a pad. I don't think I am pregnant. I took a test a week before my period and it was negative. I was late and have been so nauseated, I thought I better check.
I have an appointment with my gyn on Friday, so I'll get it checked out.
I've been taking advil for the pain. I don't know how else to describe it except it feels like something is stretching/tearing.
I had a problem with that several weeks ago...tons of pain and then the dr's office just said on the phone "oh you probably just have a cyst breaking, take 1000 mg of ibuprofen and use a heating pad."
Is it just me or does it seem like they should at least check it out????? Anyone else on here have any suggestions or more inf0? I probably should have pushed it more but now that stac is going through it too it concerns me that one of us would have that much pain and be treated like its no big deal...not to mention the fact that we are not doctors and would not necessarily know if something was seriously wrong!

I have gotten the same reaction from Dr's as well. Most cysts will resolve themselves without intervention. It is painful when one ruptures, but unless it is a HUGE cyst, the fluid is reabsorbed and there are no lasting symptoms. The doctor should, IMO, at least get a sonogram to see how large the cyst is, and if it's fluid filled or solid. A solid cyst is ALOT more dangerous as it could be cancerous. I'd insist on a sonogram..and while most likely you will have to bear with the pain until the cyst resolves, at least you'll know for sure. I had a 4cm cyst (OUCH)..and I was in pain for about a week...then the pain went away. I did get a sonogram, and will have a repeat sonogram in about another 2 weeks.
I'd insist on having your doctor see you...and insist on having a sonogram done if the pain does not resolve. If they won't see you, get another doctor!!!
