The fed ex guy just came and delivered our visas. I've never traveled overseas so I was quite excited to see what a visa looks like. It makes things seem even more real that we will travel soon when I see the travel expiration dates printed on the visa.
We are hoping to hear in the next couple weeks about our travel approvals. It sometimes takes about 3 weeks for approval to travel, which would be Monday the 8th, so that's what I'm hoping for--anytime that week would suit me fine!!
Glad things are still moving forward. I think of my darling little girl constantly and cannot wait to hold her in my arms.
Thinking of all of you too--this is a precious time for many of us!!
HUGS all around!!!

Wow. Before you know it, you will be bringing her home! I have been watching your story especially close because my dh and I are going to adopt from China.
Cant wait to hear the details. Let us know when you go.
Thanks,
Debby

Jen--you should be traveling before I do, though, right? We are pretty definite we can't leave until after Christmas--either actually on December 25th or January 1st or 8th. Those are our guesstimates. Our agency leaves on Thursdays 99.99% of the time!

Yay, Lisa! Reading your DATES gave me goosebumps because it's SO close for you!!! Where will you be flying into? (I'm so clueless on the process for China adoption.) You might just be in my time zone! I wish we could just pop up and say "Hi".
Justin and Maria were 8/9 mo. old when we moved, and I tell you, they had a MUCH easier time adjusting to a 15 hour time difference than Paul and I did.
I'm sure you have great ideas from other parents in your program for what to take in your suitcases. But I can't tell you how some peanuts and protein bars saved us those first few nights here, in the middle of the night when nothing was open and our bodies were saying, "DINNER!" No-Doz were also my good friend.
We have a tentative itinerary--they use the same basic one each time. We will be there for approx. 2 weeks.
We should leave on a Thursday and arrive in Beijing on Friday. We stay there for 3 days to get used to the time change (as best as you can) and do some sightseeing, like the Great Wall, Forbidden City, etc...
On Sunday we leave for her province, which is called Jiangxi Province. I think the flight is about 3 hours--not sure yet. When we arrive on Sunday we COULD receive Emily that day or on Monday. It all depends and we probably won't know that until we get there.
Monday through Friday are filled with appointments and such, taking time to get used to each other and bonding. Very little sightseeing takes place here--we are more free to take things as they come and do stuff only as our daughter is comfortable. We also won't know till we get there whether we will see her SWI or her abandonment site.
Either Friday or Saturday we leave for Guangzhou which is where the official stuff takes place like the US Consulate appointment. We leave China on Wednesday and arrive home on Thursday.
Of course all of these days are probably off a day with all the time changes!! China is 13 hours ahead of the US.
It's very exciting--wouldn't that be cool if you could just hop on a plane and come see us! We'll be on the same side of the world!!!
