Default Out from D & C. ..feel SOOOO much better

So it went well. I did have to go in early because I was tachicardic and having heart palps from being deyhydrated. The gave me 2 bags of fluid before I even went back to stablize my heart... I'm glad I got it done toay, I have been feeling sick for days and I went in and I had a 100.1 fever and when I got back into the operating room it was 101.3... So something wasn't right.

I did feel like I was in some episode of Trama in the ER lol.. I go back and they're strapping my arms down out to my sides and they put this oxygen mask on me and I had to tell them to get it off cause there just wasn't enough oxygen flow or something and I felt like I was trying to breath into a bottle like I couldn't get enough air it was hard to breath. So they hovered it over my face and I don't remember even going out.. Nothing onlyt thing I remember is waking up and saying pain pain pain cause the doc didn't wanna give me pain meds until i woke up incase of reaction. So the shot me up and I have been perfect since..

I do have a question tho.. I have this SEVERE burning sensation down there (not on the inside but like my pee hole and lips ... sorry TMI!). No pain but burning so bad, I pee and it feels like I'm peeing glass and like I just sitting on an oven on high. I took a shower to let some cool water run down there but it won't stop. Did anyone else experience this. I'm wondering if they put a cath in maybe? I dunno what it is but its soo uncomfortable.

So my experience wasn't bad I was in there a total of 1 hour 10 mins and was able to walk to the car by myslef! I'm happy with the procedure and it needed to be done because I think I was getting an infection

The must have given me a cath cause man this burning is like unreal.Im afraid to even urninate I'm having to like hold on to the sink its like lightening shooting out when I go. I'm thinking of calling the doc but its like well you know I did just kinda have surgery like 6 hours ago so umm I'll give it a little.

My fever is gone and I feel confident that the baby was infecting me, tmi here but the hemmoraging had a sour smell gross I know but it was undeniable I was concious about it when I would go out that people could smell and the last couple days I was leaking clear fluid so I'm wondering if the sac collapsed and that was playing a roll in it . Really gross. Sorry! But I mean who knows manybe someone else experienced that so I'm not the only one ya know.

Tara - as a PP said, they prolly put a catheter in you to ensuer your bladder stayed empty throughout the procedure. A full bladder would have obstructed the view of the doc doing the procedure and it can press down from the top when you are laying down. You really shouldn't avoid peeing even if it hurts, as that can lead to kidney and infection problems. Did they give you any pain meds? Dianna

Thanks It has to be it my urine isn't cloudy or foul smelling or anything like that. I did not get any pain meds. I woke up and just kept saying "I'm in pain I'm in pain" and I got a tylenol. I've taken another since then. I have absolutly no cramps or pain at all except the burning, even when I'm not urinating. I'll see how it goes through the night and if its still to the point where I'm having problems urinating I'll call the doc tomorrow just as a precaution. Lord knows they pumped an enitre bag of antibiotics in me before and after surgery so I would think that would kill of any bacteria and the bacterias thoughts of even settling in!! You never know though right!!

No pain meds? Seriously? Wow, My doc gave me percocet and 800Mg ibuprofen (the horse tabs).... and instructions to take either one every 6 hours for the first 2 days..... I was actually more sore from the shoulders up as they put me completley out with anethesia , so my shoulders and throat were sore (from being positioned to have a breathing tube). Dianna

I did have a breathing thing in my mouth I know that when I woke up I was actually having trouble breathing I can remember vaugly then pulling my head back and sticking this round thing back in my throat and then taping my head down like that for a while. I was making a weird noise like when you think of a whooping cough, only I was making that when I inhaled. I also woke up in tremors with my hands tied to the bed. I'm sure it was from my autonomic system kicking back in cause of my disorder and it was like hyperstimulated. I wasn't tramatized or freaked out by any of it so I don't think I was in distress so in my book its all okay..

I was surprised I didn't have pain meds. They didn't even give them to me after the procedure. I got 1 tylenol because I requested it and that was it. No cramps or nothing though.. Honestly I think I passed most of it on my own, with no cramps either oddly enough, so I don't think much was incolved.

Glad the procedure was over for you. I hope you can start to heal now. I don't think the baby was infecting you, per se.....the "lochia" or bleeding you were experiencing does have a foul or very weird smell to it.....I remember it distinctly. I think that is normal. Most people can have the fetal remains in them for over a month...so a week or so isn't too long. I would think that all of what you were describing seems to be normal.

I had a catheter in for 2 days when I had my daughter and I was afraid of a uti. I drank tons of water to flush things out and thankfully, prevented one. I don't know if having one in for such a short amount of time would/could cause a uti....but it's worth looking into.

I agree...I felt "great' physically after my dnc.......relatively no bleeding or cramping.

now, the heart starts to heal....

tara~i'm so sorry for your loss, but i'm glad your body is feeling better now. what a scary couple of weeks you've had! i've been following your story and i see you live in naples too, would you mind sharing who your first doctor that didn't take good care of you? i want to make sure to not see them! btw, i experienced the same things after my d&e's too. i think you'll be feeling better in a few days. it's a pretty tramatic procedure, just take care of yourself these next couple of days!!
