Default Ovarian Cysts

Hey yall
I was dx with PCOS in April of 2007. Getting the dx was a blessing cause for the past five years I have had problems with ovarian cyst, irregular periods, not to mention weight gain. I first started having problems in 2003 when I was taken to the E.R because of sever pelvic pain. The drs. did many test and told me I had a ruptured Ovarian Cyst. Its been nearlly five years later and since then I have had 5 other ruptured cyst and surgery to remove a 6 cyst. This past weekend I was once again in the E.R and once again had to deal with drs who continued to tell me cyst are normal. And yes I know that most women get cyst every month as part of the menstural cycle. I however fail to think that pain so bad you can not move is normal and that cyst that are the 4 inches in size are normal. I guess my main issue is i'm tired of everybody telling me this is normal especially since it has taken me five years to find a doctor who will listen to me. I have chronic pelvic pain the pain can last from seconds to days to even weeks at a time. I can go months with out my period and when it does finally show up its so heavy and painful that I can't do anything. My sister alway makes fun of the hair that has grown on my belly and face. And within the past ye ar I have went from a happy funny loving size 6 wearing college student to a size 18 depressed on the verge of being a college drop out. This past weekend I was once again back in the E.R for pevlic pain. The Drs send me every time it is on my right side they think it is appendix after the nice E.R doc came in and told me it was not my appendix which we all thought it was and told me it was another cyst. I lost it I started balling and yelling at the nurses drs, ultrasound people pretty much anyone who tried to come in my room and tell me this was normal and I was ok. Cause see to me an appendix is something they can fix this problem is reoccouring it happens over and over again and there does not seem to be any end in sight. As I understand people with PCOS do not allways have problems with ovarian cyst I was just wondering if anybody else has had issues with them. As well as if anyone else has had problems with people telling them that this is normal.

IT IS NOT NORMAL! I hope you find a doc that will listen to you, because you should not have to go through this. There are things they can do to make this less painful. Have you looked on the "recommend a doctor" forum to see if anyone has mentioned one near you?

I'm so sorry you are hurting like this. We are here for you if you need us.

I want to say hello and welcome to Sc!! I agree that none of this is normal and I prray and hope that you can find a DR. who will listen to you. I have been lucky enough that I have only had to deal with large cysts like you are describing one time and I truly know the pain you are having, I was out of state and had to go to the ER in PA because like you I just knew it was my appendix only to find out the cyst was bleeding into my ovary luckily it healed on its own. Try shopping around for a new Dr. after 4 years I have finally found a Dr who will listen to me and I am so thankful. I actually had surgery yesterday to remove my cysts mine are the classic small ones anyhow due to these constant small cysts my left ovary was encased in a hard like shell!!! which I though was insane until I saw the pictures but this is definately a problem you need to have a Dr. address, good luck to you and I hope you get the help you need!!
