I was wondering if anyone has had success with this procedure. I am not trying to get pregnant at this time, just stop the symptoms that have effecting my life for the past few years. I have tried everything, BCP, Spiro, Metformin, herbs, etc. My symptoms are HAIR LOSS, a few chin hairs and irregular periods. I am wondering if ovarian drilling would be a good option. Pleeeaaaase respond.

it is my understnading that drilling is only reserved for cases in which nothing else will work and the PCOS is seriously inhibiting your health. Ovarian drilling is done for women with PCOS who have not responded to weight loss, insulin sensitizers and fertility medication. Partial ovarian destruction has been reported to restore regular ovulation cycles.
women with PCOS have reported that ovarian drilling results in ovulation rate and a 50% pregnancy rate. Also, Many who failed to ovulate with clomiphene or metformin therapy will respond when re-challenged with these medications after ovarian drilling
All the Best,
Ashley

I am having it done next month. My dr. is doing a cystectomy, and decided to do the drilling while he's in there. I have regular pds., am not trying to conceive, but we're doing it as an attempt to relieve my symptoms. I'm not overweight, although I have put on about 7 lbs. that WILL NOT BUDGE since my symptoms worsened.
From my understanding, I'm not a typical person who would have the procedure done, but my ob/gyn wants to try it, as he's goin' in anyway, spiro has little effect on me, and Met doesn't agree with me--no gastro issues, other stuff. I'll let you know how it goes...
