Hi ya

I know how you are feeling this time last week I was in the same position, I have just had the lap and ovarian drilling last friday.
It is usually only a day case op you are in and out in a few hours, you do have a general anesthetic. I didnt have my op till after 3pm so stayed in over night as I had a good bit to travel and it took me a while to get over the general and keep some food down etc. I am still abit sore but only very very slight and as I dont have to go back to work till next wednesday i am taking it easy, its nice to be waited on for a change by hubie!! so getting the most out of it.
I have done the clomid, injections and met, I dont really like met as I feel quite sick on it but after a while I will go back on it again, if the op doesnt work on its own which fingers crossed it does.
You will probably have 3 small incisions, 1 just below your belly button and another 1 either side and just below your stomach , you wouldnt even notice them believe me and they just disolve after.
If you just wanna chat no problem, I would be glad to have a penpal as I havent one either, we could chat away, ask me any questions and I will try and answer them as best I can
talk soon

Hi

I had drilling in November 2002, and have had regular cycles every month after, which is a miracle for me as I probably only had about 2 per year. i am also Ovulating, according to my temp charts so it has helped me alot, ive just got to catch the eggie now

Like you it was the first time I had ever been in hospital so I was scared, but I wish I knew before what was involved, it was so easy. First I had to do a urine sample to check that I wasn't pg, then the nurse came around with pre-med, and I was then taken to have my op, this was about 10am, I came back up to the ward about 11.20am. I was on a drip and oxygen. The nurse said that if I had something to eat and went to te toilet they would let me go home, I left hospital about 5pm, a little sore but Ok. I had 2 weeks off work, and I had to have my stitches removed as they didn't disolve.

hope this helps, PM me if you want to know anything else

Hi there

Had a lap and hysteroscapy and die test two weeks ago!!!
my cuts recovered nicely, just had the remaining stitches taken out as they didn't all dislolve. I was a bit sore for about a week afterwards, just take pain killers if you need to and don't over do it.
I didn't have drilling cos i have one very bad blocked tube, that they can't do anything about and a damaged left ovary, this was due to an infection i picked up years ago!!!
Its iui next month for me and then IVF if no luck!!!!

Don't worry about your op, it is fine, i am a real baby and i found it no prob.
I just remembered 1 thing, i got a throught infection after op cos of the tube that goes down your throght and needed antibiotics, they said it was just bad luck!!!
but if you get a very sore throght after op see your GP
Good luck

HI

Gypsy, If you go into "sent folder" in your personal messages and delete the ones you dont want it frees up space. Hope this helps.

Default ovarian drilling

I will have ovarian drilling on the 17th of this month and I am very scared.. I have had the following surgeries:

87 - ovarian cysts

89 - ovarian cysts

92 - c-section - I think that was the last time I o'd

2000 - lap.

I have not gotten a period in 9 years on my own,
I need the assistance of provera.

I just want to get a period on my own so my doctor will do ovarian drilling and clean up some of my adhesions that one gets when you have too many surgeries.

I am not TTC because I have one daughter and I am very blessed. If it should happen it would be great.
I just want to be normal and get periods. It's weird most women hate them and I want them.

If I don't chicken out I will let you know. The Dr. told me to have it on Thurs. and I can go back to work on Mon...... sounds good to me.

I have been on met 500 mg. going on two months.
I stared adkins @ 217 on 3/3/03 today I weighed in @ 200!!!

Keep in touch!

Hi Selina

Wow you really have had some surgery, you are a professional lol, are you only taking 500mg of met? thats really low, 1500mg is about the normal dose, I started on 1000mg and moved to 1500mg, my gyn is upping it again in May to 2000mg. I also had infrequent periods, probably only 2 or 3 per year if I was lucky, I had drilling in november and have had regular cycles yipeeeeeee

Good luck with the weight loss

Thanks Lynn,
I know 500 mg is low but he won't up my dosage until I have a fasting Blood sugar level and I have not gotten around to doing that. My dr. told me that he does not rx more than 1000 mg to anyone. I wish I were on 1000 mg but he won't do it until he gets my results. Do you think I will get my period if he ups it??? I wonder if I will tolerate it I felt sick on 500 mg for a week or so.

Oh, well thanks for your imput

Hi Selina

You really need to get your fasting bloods done and get an increase in Met, hopefully that will bring on your periods. Tell that Dr of yours to get with it and learn about Met. 1500mg is considered as a beneficial dose, so even 1000mg probably wont be enough!!

Try and change doctors or tell him from me that he needs to go back to Medical school

If by some mirace he decides to increase your met, try and stick with it, when I first took 1000mg Met was sooooooo ill, but after about 2 weeks it passed, Im now on 2000mg and I have no problems
