Default Ovarian Drilling Procedure

Hi again,

Just wondering if any of the UK/Scottish/Welsh or Irish cysters have had or come across ovarian drilling and if so I would be really interested to hear how it went for them and if of course the ultimate question if she conceived after this procedure, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Helen

Hey there Helenquinn,

I've had ovaian drilling (in Feb this year) the whole procedure is fine - after the op I felt uncomfortable from the gassess that they use - it was sore in my shoulders - reffered pain - full recovery took a few weeks (as I teach and have to be 100% fit before returning to work).

Unfortunately I haven't got pg yet and am about to start my first ivf cycle.

If you have any q's regarding drilling, don't hesistate to ask

Good luck

Moose

Default yep i had it!

hi there!

i had ovarian drilling about 6 years ago!....i didnt fall pregnant by having this done...but it did make my periods(when i had them)..alot lighter.and they didnt last as long ...they used to be really heavy..and could last for some 3 -4 weeks....but since ovarian drilling...they are always light..very light, and usually last between 3-7 days!!....the whole op was very straight foward!!...of course it was my first time to have an op...even to be in hospital i was really scared....but honestly it was pretty straight foward..infact i will most probably be in for a d&c next week...so im not gonna be too nervous about being put under!

anyhow....i had 3 places where i had stitches...either side of the pubic hair line and one in the belly button...stitches were removed 5 days later.....like the above post..there was a bit of discomfort from the gas..shoulders...and passed wind quite a bit!!but apart from that was fighting fit in 2 weeks!!#

hope this helps!!

I had ovarian drilling done dec 2000.
As Moose and HH said suffered the shoulder pain, gas etc.
Periods returned straight away and I was PG by March 2001. My son was born Nov 2001, less than a year after surgery.

Hope this helps you.

I had ovarian drilling May 1996, my daughter was born April 1997!

My experience of the operation was as the others have said, except I only had stitches in two places, one in belly button, and one in the centre just on my pubic hair line. I too was very nervous, but really it is very straight forward.

A big hi and thank you to all who posted,

I was delighted to read the response to my post and thank you all for giving me extra hope and encouragement. I dont mind going for the procedure, but I do feel very optimistic that maybe someday I will have the result of a new baby! I will let you all know how I got on sometime in September!

Again thanks for the hope and encouragement.

Helen
