I was wondering if anybody out there has undergone Ovarian Drilling Surgery. I have just had a negative pregnancy test confirmend by blood test and the next step for us was to look at this procedure. My specialist isn't 100% confident of the procedure, but as I have just finished my 5th cycle having daily injections and living on Metformin, this seems like the next stage. All of the articles that I have read have positive thoughts on the procedure, but I'm still a little aprehensive. I'm really hoping somebody can help me as I have to sort of make a decision soon.
I also had ovarian drilling done (in August 2001) after ttc unsuccessfully for nearly 18 months. I fell pregnant soon after the operation, but unfortunately miscarried 3 times (not related to the drilling).
The good news is that after the drilling, I have been able to fall pregnant almost easily (within a few short months of trying each time) and am now 17 weeks pregnant with a healthy little baby
Good luck deciding!

Thankyou both very much. I have decided to go ahead with the procedure and am booked to go in on the 29th April. My doctor explained he will be performing a Laparoscopy, Hysteroscopy, Ovarian Drilling, Dye Studies through the tubes and a D+C. I dont think I will be able to walk for a month let alone try for a baby. Oh well, I am sure only good things will come out of this. I will keep you informed of how it goes! Thanks again for the advice - sometimes it's that little extra push that we need.
good luck with the surgery. I had it done in August 2002 and while still tcc have had no luck getting pg. I am starting my first IUI this month, so will see how it goes.
Af came 2 days after the drilling and I was black and blue for days afterwards. Make sure you take it easy after your procedure and get plenty of rest as you will be sore.
Hope it all goes well for you and let us know how you got on.
Helen

Well I had the surgery done on Tuesday (today is Thursday) and I will tell you all that I am very sore and regretting that I had the procedure done - I am sure that will change in a week or so when I am feeling better. DH spoke to our Doctor after the surgery and he said everything went really well and didn't find anything untoward - except for a set of keys which was his attempt at humour. I have had some slight bleeding in the past 2 days but nothing of what I expected. I spoke to my Doctor today to find out when we can get back onto the baby making wagon, but he feels this is too soon after the surgery and I have to go and see him next Saturday and we will have an ultrasound to see what the ovaries are doing. He also said that he might wait and see if we can conceive naturally - I dont want to wait though, I know we would be better off if we could conceive naturally, but I just dont have the patience to wait anymore.
I will keep you all informed. Thanks for all of the positive responses - fingers crossed!!!
