Well, I just started Metformin (1500mg) about 2 weeks ago... I am still waiting for AF, and I recently started using Progesterone cream. I'm hoping that the combination of the two will work. I never get AF on my own, without BCP or Provera. I did not want to use the Provera this time, so I bought the cream and I'm trying it.
Anyway, I said all that to say this...I have been having a lot of pain in my ovaries since I started the Metformin. Any ideas why this might be? Anyone else experience this? I'm not sure if I should be alarmed or not.
I've had a ton of ovarian pain too. I just had AF after waiting 47 days and the days leading up to it were the worst! I do believe my previous cycle was ovulatory, however, I never confirmed it as my CBEFM prompted me to test only until day 25. I'm certain it would've been after those days based on the amount and type of CM.

I've had some pain in my ovaries as well. Most months it's not so bad, but since I increased to 2000 mg of Metformin, it seems my pain has increased. But I'm not sure if it is the Metformin causing the increase in pain or not. Wish I had an answer to that. I don't have a follow up with my Doc til June so I'm definitely writing that down as a question to ask at that time.

Thanks for your responses. I am glad to know that I am not the only one experiencing this, although I'm sorry to hear you are also having pain.
It's not unbearable, just unsettling. I am always worried about the condition of my ovaries, knowing that I have so many cysts. There are times that I think my ovaries are exploding!!
So were either of you having trouble with AF before Metformin?? I am hoping that after 6 months without AF, I will see it soon... I have not knowingly ovulated in two years.
I definitely was. I think the longest I went without AF was about 106 days. I got on the Metformin in July and it's ranged anywhere from 34-58 days between cycles until now, and it was only 28 days, so I'm hoping I'm starting to see some good results.
I think the biggest thing that I've discovered is that PCOS is one of those things that really requires diligence and the utmost of patience.

I went four months without AF recently, which prompted me to start met again a couple of months ago. I had two periods within 35 days of each other on 1000 mgs, so things look good. However, I have been having some pain, too. I don't know if it's just my body trying to regulate itself, having reactions to the new balances of hormones, or what.
