So went for my 6 month follow up appt today.... asked about that mysterious pain over my left ovary that I've posted about before. It seems that it IS my ovary trying to ovulate but failing because of cysts. Well, at least it's trying, right?!
The fact that it WANTS to work and is TRYING is great news!!! Best wishes to you!!!!!!

in March of 2004, I had severe pain over my left ovary that extended down into my inguinal area. They did surgery in April of 2004 to see if it was an inguinal hernia since I was literally doubled over in pain. They found nothing. Makes me wonder how hard my poor lil ovary was working then!!
Where exactly is your pain located???? Ive been having an awful pain in my lower left stomach for months now. And I also feel sick to my stomach all the time. For some odd reason my gyno seems to think its my gallbladder. I dont understand that since the gallbladder is located under the right breast. I ask my family doctor about it & he too agreed that it sounded like gallbladder. Ive already had an ultrasound for my gallbladder which came back normal. I have an appointment this coming Thursday for another test on my gallbladder to see if its " functioning" correctly. This last Saturday night my husband had to take me to an urgent care center because I started burning when I use the restroom and my urine had turned dark brown. I found out that I have a UTI and a bladder infection. He said my pain in my lower left stomach had nothing to do with either infection and he also said that he didnt think I had gallbladder problems. He too said that the gallbladder isnt located anywhere near where I keep hurting. So ive been trying to think of anything that could make me hurt in my lower left stomach & make me feel like im going to throw up. My gyno said I have a small normal cyst on each ovary. He said they woudnt cause pain. So I was wondering where your pain is located???? Sorry this is so long...lol

HOPE~ Well the nurse in me thinks that you definitely did the right thing to get a second opinion. It may be referred pain since your gallbladder does have a lot to do with digestion.... but I would keep at those docs til they run some tests!
As for my pain... it's literally directly over my left ovary. If it is pushed on or palpated in any way it is sore the next day. It almost feels "swollen"... you know how if you have swelling you get that understated dull achey nagging pain? That's how it feels if you press on it. BUT!!!... around the middle of my cycle when it acts up without being touched, it feels like something is ripping at it. Lower left quadrant... as if you were sitting up in a chair and someone told you to put your hand over your lower left quadrant, it's exactly where your hand would instinctively go. It's weird. They were baffled b/c no one ever thought that it could be reproductive (this was prior to my diagnosis of PCOS).
Thank you so much for the information. Im going to wait & see what the test results are on Thursday and then go from there. Ive never had any kind of surgery before & im praying that whatever is causing the pain & sick feeling that it doesnt require surgery. I dont mind visiting people in hospitals but I dont want to stay at one overnight..lol Thanks again for the help.

yeah the surgery was terrible for me. It was such a minor surgery (laproscopy) but I didn't tolerate the anesthesia very well. I was under general anesthesia and it can make some people very paranoid for a while afterwards and MAN!.... it REALLY did it for me! I was afraid to sleep for days.... I would doze off and jolt awake and freak out. I think I would have rather dealt with the pain haha!
But I'm sure you'll be fine At least your docs are on the right track toward something! When I was going through the worst of my pain, I ended up in the ER four nights in a row, and the first doc was like "well we really dont know what the problem is... so.... bye". I could not believe it! I was finally referred to a surgeon (general surgeon) who never really told me anything definitive other than "it's not an inguinal hernia" It wasn't until I was Dx PCOS over a year later that it FINALLY made sense!
I'm glad the mystery has finally been solved Paws Hey, at least the poor girl is trying, right? Seems like a good thing to me instinctively, as when I didn't ovulate I just would not ovulate. No hormonal or physiological signs. Just nothing.
Hope... I'm sorry you're having such a hard time Try not to be too afraid if you do have to have surgery though. I had to have laparoscopic surgery to remove endo and it was my first time being put under and I was scared out of my mind! If it does turn out to be your gallbladder this is the same type of surgery they will probably do on you (unless it is REALLY bad) and for me the surgery was a piece of cake. I was lucky enough to have no anesthesia reactions and was just a bit sore for a few days. My friend who had a lap for a tubal ligation had the same experience. And if you are in the US (sorry, I didn't notice before I hit 'reply'!) you don't usually stay in the hospital to have your gallbladder out by lap; it's done outpatient. You're in in the morning and home by the afternoon! My aunt, a few uncles, and a neighbor all had their gallbladders out in this manner and none of them had a complaint. They were so miserable before, they were just glad to be rid of it!
I hope they find out what is going on for you soon and that it isn't too scary

BUMPY~ yeah thats what my instinct was, too.... to be kinda "glad" that it is showing outward signs. I'm hoping that I'll be one of those women who KNOW exactly when they ovulate. If it could only break freeeeee!!!!!!!!
