Default ovaries aching in the 2 week wait

Hi there

This is my first post and I am a little nervous!!! My Dh and I have been TTC#1 for 12 months. I was diagnosed with PCOS in November 2003 and am currently on my second round of clomid day 8. Last cycle...according to D21 tests, I ovulated, although interestingly, for the past 12 monthd the OPK have been positive - although my specialist wasn't entirely convinced. What is driving me insane and which has been the same for ALL my cycles since stopping the pill.... is that after 'ovulating' 2-3 days later my ovaries start aching (like they do when I ovulate)for the next 7 days and then I start cramping 7 days prior to my af arriving - mixed in with all this is sore nipples. What I am concerned about is that the first 14 days of my cycle appears to be working but the last 14 days aren't!! Does that make sense?????

Is this common???? I feel dejected and depressed when these pains start after ovulating as I sense I am not pregnant, as it is the same pattern my body goes though time and time again.

Also....does anyone have any advice about the number of times we shoup bed within the window period. My specialist advised that it should be every second day (I'm conerned it isn't enough!!)

Thanks for listening....I am desperate for some advise

Hi Michelle and welcome,

Is the ovary pain on one side at a time? If it is, it could be something called mittelschmerz. Here is another thread that I found about it (third post down explains what's going on):

Can your ovaries hurt?

I get this when I ovulate. I also get the sore nipples (actually only one) and feeling miserable. I believe it's all part of pms (pmt). Isn't it fun being a woman The Alternative Remedies list has info about Natural Progesterone Cream which can really help. I believe you need a prescription here in Australia, but I get one from Golden Glow that has the homeopathic version of progesterone in it:

https://www.goldenglow.com.au/produc...roductId=13662

And someone told me about a wild yam cream they got in a health food store that sounded very similar.

If you're still concerned you should ask your doctor.

Welcome Michelle!

Have had similar pains some months and none other months. Sorry i cant help either way as whether i get pains or not i repeatedly am not pg. Tas might be spot on with the mitzelschmit thingy i have heard mention of it before.

One month i had really really bad pains just past O but this turned out to be a cyst rupturing. It may be little cysts coming to the surface of your ovaries and popping.

Hmmnnn has anything changed since taking clomid? is it worse or better. As Mez said i would definately mention it to your ob/gyn next time you see him/her.

Good luck with the TTC

Thanks girls for your help

Tas...thanks for links, they were useful. It was nice to know that other people's ovaries ache after ovulation.

Usually the pain is on both sides.... after ovulating I feel like I have butterflys in my stomach and then the dull ache starts. Each time I think..this is it and then the ache turns into a cramp. I'm sooo disheartened.

Mez...thanks for the welcome.

Em....I have felt the same ache with and without clomid. Although the difference I feel with clomid is when I do ovulate the ache is more severe...I'm on d13 and it is as strong as ever!!!

I have recently spoken to my gyno about it and he thinks it is a PCOS thingy and that it because of my cysts that I am feeling the pain.

I'm just worried that there is something wrong with my luteal phase...I just don't know why when I now produce an egg...why it isn't fertilising...or maybe it is and its struggling to attach...I don't know. Can you tell I'm frustrated!!!

Thanks again guys for your replies...I appreciate the effort.

How long is the LP? I think I read that it needs to be 10 days or more to allow a pregnancy to establish.

I can't really help with the ovarie thing, sorry, but i noticed you wanted to know if every other day was ok for bding? Well i too am on clomid and that is the instructions i got off my gyne so we are only bding every other day too. Apparntly good sperm can last for a few days so i think that is why you don't really have to bd every day.

Michelle

Wow you sound just like me but thats not great. Have you had a laparoscopy to check out your tubes yet? On the other hand if you are O'ing and not falling pg how long have you been trying whilst O'ing. If its less than a year then i wouldnt panic.

If youve been trying a long time and know you have been O'ing its probably worth getting your tubes checked/cleaned out. I tried fro 3 years before they finally did a lap/dye etc and found out both my tubes were blocked. I think im probably gonna have to go for another one as i dont think they actually managed to clear the left one (the right one is completely stuffed).

anyway sorry to scare you but its worth getting checked out just for your peace of mind. Also a lot of women even if they havent got blocked tubes benefit from the procedure and fall pg the following month. My gyn was so convinced i wasnt falling pg because of the PCOS she didnt look for different causes. I always O but like on day 16 of a 22 day cycle so i also have a short luteal phase. When ive mentioned this to her she has dismissed it - so im thinking of getting a second opinion. There is no point "wasting" attempts at clomid if your tubes are blocked IYKWIM as you can only try clomid a max of 12 times.

Anyway good luck

Em

Hi girls

In relation to my luteal phase, it has varied between 10 - 14 days. Prior to commencing clomid my cycles were between 33 - 37 days (on clomid my cycle length is 28 days). On a couple of occasions (according to OPK) I ovulated at d26/d27....which is when my cycle length was 36/37 days long. But what has been consitant throughout the past 12 months is that after 3 -7 days after I 'ovulate', both ovaries start aching again unti my period cramps start (these period cramps can last 7 days before AF arrives).

My next appointment with my gyno is in March. He has stated that if i'm not pregnant by then,,,,I will have a lap done.

I am now on d15....the OPK has indicated a very strong indication that I have an LH surge. Dear husband and I bed'd last night...I want to go again tody!!!, however I am trying to follow the advice from my gyno and Clare that bedg every couple of days is enough!!! Also it is 41 degrees in Melbourne today...and my silly dh is playing cricket (how crazy is he!!)...so I don't know how powerful his sperm would be !!!!.

Thanks again girls for listening....fingers crossed that it is our month!!!

Baby dust to all

Hi there

Update:

I'm pregnant.....4 weeks and 2 days!!!! Due date 7.11.04.

I can't believe it. I went through the same symptoms as I posted above. Five days before my AF was due I started cramping as if it was coming...even took pain killers to ease the pain...depression set in!!! and felt dejected. Then my breasts felt full and nipples very very painful....still cramping and then my AF didn't arrive. I waited a couple of days completely disbelieving that I could be pregnant...tested Sunday 29.02.04 and got a positive result. I had to go back to the shop again to buy another test as I really didn't believe I would need another test!!!

I'm still pinching myself.

Baby dust to all.

Congratulations Shell!!

If you don't mind me asking, what are your symptoms of PCOS?

This certainly gives me hope of getting pregnant (I have never tried). Do you have the classic string of pearls around your ovaries?

Your comments would be appreciated.

Good luck:p

Hi there

Im 5 weeks today....and of course the time is dragging!!! I'm counting down the time for my scan which is booked in for 22.03.04. The stress doesn't stop!!! Now I'm panicking that it will be an ectopic pregnancy because I conceived on clomid!! I wish I could just enjoy the moment. Why is it that we always think the worst!

I'm still suffering from mild cramps, which are now mostly in the middle however can swap also from side to side. I have bouts of nausea and immence tiredness. My nipples are also still very sore.

Kirsty, you asked about my PCOS symptoms....I have over 20 cysts in both ovaries, i suffer from acne, migraines and am about 20 kilos over weight - I can only lose weight when I exercise daily and when I am on a strict carb free diet (which of course is difficult to keep up all of the time!!). I also have more hair than I should....however fortunately it is mostly long and blonde so I control it with electrolysis.

Thanks all for your support and well wishes

fingers crossed
