My doctor has given me prescriptions for both Metformin and Ovcon 35. Does anyone have any info on Ovcon 35? Is it a good BCP for those with PCOS? I have heard Yasmin is one of the best, what is the difference? I have a website that lists the ingredients, and it explains the different kinds of progesterone, and the potency, but it was a little difficult to understand. Does anyone know, in the general sense, which BCP's are best for PCOS and which are worst?

Bc Pills that contain a progestin that is low in androgen affect are usually best for side afffects such as acne and hair growth. The estrogen in the pill also helps this. Ovcon is considered one of the better pills for PCOS but tends to be high in estrogen effect. This does not affect many women and they love it. Other pills I've read are good for PCOS are ortho cyclen, ortho cept (desogen) Yasmin and demulin. I know the Yasmin is the opposite of ovcon in that the progestin affect is higher than the estrogen affect. It is still low in androgen however. You just need to experiment a bit.

Desogen was the first bcp I was ever on, about nine or ten years ago. Too long ago to remember how it affected me, lol.
