Hi guys. My good friend is going through a really hard time right now. She's in the 2ww after using injections and IUI.
She's over stimulated to a really uncomfortable point. They haven't put her in the hospital but she is needing daily iv's to reduce some of the bloating.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this?
Also, they have had her drinking V8 like crazy. Anyone heard of that?
Is there still a chance she can be pregnant?

I was hospitalized for 5 day. I had OHSS. I was in so much pain. I gained 27pounds and 14 inches in about a day and a half. I was on IV as well and they put a catheter.
There is 2 kinds of OHSS. I had early onset. I did not get pregnant. However your friend could be pregnant.
Does she have PCOS?
When did she have her IUI done?
Tell her to hang in there, It does get better. However if she is pregnant she will still have OHSS and not feel very good. I can't remember how long OHSS last for if your pregnant. I have heard of them getting you to drink V8. | |

If your friend is pregnant it will take 10 weeks for symptoms to resolve. If not pregnant it will resolve when she gets af.
Gatorade and V8 is given to help balance electrolytes.
Has she had an ultrasound? My ultrasound showed a lot of fluid as well my overies were the size of grapefruits.
I don't wish this on anyone. I have never felt anything like it. It can be very serious. I don't know how bad it is for your friend, But like I said it will get better! | |

I had OHSS starting about 9dpo and was hospitalized for 4 days at about 15dpo. I had to have a drain inserted in my abdomen and they drained 1+ gallons of fluid. GROSS! But the happy news is I was pregnant w/ twins and went on to have a healthy pregnancy.

peaches - I am so glad that you had a happy ending.
As for me I didn't have the happy ending. I don't think I could ever go through that again, so I am giving up on taking meds. Who knows maybe I was pregnant. They did give me a lot of medication in the hospital. | |

I am experiencing this right now. Not so bad to be hospitalized but it is extremely uncomfortable. I am about 9dpiui and it has not gone away yet. I drink about 2 liters of gatorade a day. I'm not sure if I'm pregnant yet or not. still in the 2ww! Good luck to your friend!

Thanks everyone for your replies! My friend will find out tomorrow if she is pregnant. My stomach is in knots for her. I doubt I will be sleeping much tonight.
She's still in a lot of pain, but the doctors say they are hopefull.......
