In a nutshell I have PCOS, have done 2 rounds of Follistim with IUI with BFN's, just recently finished a third round (with a different RE) of Gonal F 150 dosages, ovidrel trigger and then an IUI last Thurs and one on Fri. I went yesterday for my ultra sound check up and blood work for progesterone. My progesterone level was over 40, nurse said thats as high as the machine goes. Then my ovaries are so big that they are touching. She called them "kissing ovaries" So I"m on bed rest for awhile and was told to drink alot of gatorade. Anybody exeperienced this? Is this going to effect the outcome of the IUI? |

I had moderate hyperstim with an IVF cycle which resulted in a pregnancy...I was not on bedrest though, so I don't think it was a bad as your seems, my RE told me it won't affect the pregnancy.

Seems like the dr or nurse would have explained that a little more to you. I am on my first IUI 9 days post.... and i feel like it was not sucessful. did you wait until day 14 to get your negative? My dr didn't has not doen anything after the IUI- just said come in two weeks for a test if no AF. I know how bed rest can drive you nuts in itself- so many good thoughts and prayers your way. I am curious so i am going to keep up with this thread - never know i might incounter the same thing since we are on the same path.

I think the bed rest for awhile is just a little precaution so that it doesn't get worse. I go next Thursday for a beta test for pregnancy. |

My Mood: Points: 37,764.94 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 37,764.94 | Lucy- Drink lots of gatorade and water to flush out your abdomen, staying hydrated is so important with OHSS. And so is taking it easy. DO NOT lift anything, push a vacuum, etc. I had slight OHSS from our last IVF cycle. I've heard of LOTS of women with OHSS getting preggo, so don't worry about that, just take care of yourself and visualize those ovaries shrinking! I had the same exact thing happen last cycle. It is so uncomfortable and painful! Definetly drink as much gaterade as you can, and my RE told me egg whites help too? I don't think it effects the IUI. Mine did not work that time, but it doesn't mean yours won't. Good luck!

My Mood: Points: 4,801.57 Bank: 105,381.10 Total Points: 110,182.67 | Lucy - How many follies did you have at time of trigger? I'm guessing you had several based on your hyperstimulation. It would explain the high progesterone (which I understand is produced by the corpus luteum left where the egg released), and the swelling and fluid collecting in your abdomen. Unfortunately, high progesterone doesn't necessarily mean pregnancy. It helps support a pregnancy which is why a lot of women take supplemental progesterone during the 2ww, but only an hcg test can tell if you're pg. Since you had a trigger shot, you probably wouldn't get an accurate bfp till at least 10dpo. As far as implantation bleeding, I think it can happen anywhere from 5-10dpo, but I don't think many women have it, so if you don't, don't worry that it's a bad sign. Try to take it easy, drink lots of gatorade, and hope for the best!
Hope this helps! Good luck!
