I was diagnosed with PCOS about 1 and 1/2 years ago. I am 28 yrs old and in a serious relationship. I just found this site and am so happy to see friends that will understand.
When I learned about PCOS from my DR. I looked online for as much infor as possible, but was more sidetrack by the threat of cancer. I had an abnoral pap that eventually lead to a Cold Knife Cone (great name!) surgery. They got all the bad stuff and I've now had two clean paps. One more and I can go back to only having them once a year!!!
I have not "dealt" with this PCOS thing yet. I guess I was just happy to finally have name for what was wrong with me? Well, anyway my BF and I are talking about getting married and we want to have children right away. I am currently on the pill taking it on a 21 day plan...so I never get my period. I don't know what steps to take now or if there are other tests I should be requesting?
Any advise or comments would be apprieciated, I'm just so glad to see all of you!

Welcome to Soul Cysters! I would ask about a Fasting Glucose Tolerance Test which will determine if you are IR. Metformin is a great insulin sensitizing medication that has helped many cysters conceive. Clomid is also a great drug used in combination with the Met that aids in ovulation. Please pm me if you have any other questions!
Leslie - Just wanted to welcome you to SC - you're definitely in the right place! You'll find answers to any and all questions you may have concerning PCOS (and then some!!) - I still consider myself fairly knew but I will say that the cysters here are most helpful - love 'em all!
I look forward to getting to know you - see you around the board!

August 6, 2005 thru May 2006 :: 90 lbs lost
*~* 15 wks/15 lbs ... 0 lbs down, 15 to go! *~* 04/22/09 - At it again!
... It's not the Will-Power ... It's the Willingness ...
Start now!! Find a Dr (or your current one) that you feel is very knowledgeable about PCOS. Tell him/her your plans and start any meds that are recommended now! Most of the time it's Metformin, so ask your Dr about Met.
I tell you this because I just got married in July 2004, and we wanted to get pg on our honeymoon practically! We've been ready for babies for more than a year and were waiting to get married. So, needless to say, we've put off "trying" until I can loose some weight and get all the meds straight. I want to feel like I've put every effort into being healthy before we jump in with both feet. Also, hopefully you're ahead of the game... I wasn't dx until 3 months into our marriage, and a dozen negative HPTs after AF stopped visiting all together!
