Default Overwhelmed

Hi,

I was diagnosed with PCOS today by my GP. I have been reading all of the information that I can get my hands on to try and understand this condition, but it's all a little bit overwhelming.

My GP seemed to be fairly up front with me about the fact that she doesn't know the intricate details about PCOS, so she has referred me to an endocrinologist. Does that sound right?

Unfortunately I can't get in to see this specialist for another month. So now I just have to wait - which is the part I hate. I have been reading all of the general information about PCOS, but I want to know from the specialist how it directly affects me, and how it affects my future.

But also, I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in this, and I'm glad I found this forum.

welcome to sc i remember how confusing getting dx with pcos was for me too, thats why this site is so amazing, theres so much to learn! What id suggest is to write a list of the things you want to ask/say to your dr so you dont forget. Thats what i always do. here is a link to the questions section of sc for you

Its funny (but not really), cause these last few years it was quite obvious that something was wrong with me - more than normal I guess. I put off going to the doctor as I was embarrassed by my symptoms, even though I know thats drs have seen and heard everything. I just hope I didn't leave it too late to get help.
